نقلتَ إلى مصر روض الشآم

بشعرك قبل أوان الربيع

بشعرك قبل أوان الربيع

You brought to Egypt the garden of al-Sham

You transported the gardens of Damascus

Through your poetry, before the time of spring.

To Egypt with your poetry before the spring

وضوَّعتَ فيها نسيمَ الغياض

وضوَّعتَ فيها نسيمَ الغياض

فمثَّلت للنفس تلك الربوع

فمثَّلت للنفس تلك الربوع

And spread there the fragrant breeze of the groves,

And imagined in it the breeze of meadows

Thus conjuring those lands for the soul.

So you pictured for the soul those lands

وحلَّيتهُ بنفيس المعاني

وحلَّيتهُ بنفيس المعاني

ووشيتهُ بالطراز البديع

ووشيتهُ بالطراز البديع

And adorned it with precious meanings,

You adorned it with the finest meanings

And embroidered it with exquisite ornament.

And decorated it with excellent style

واجريتَ فيهِ رحيق البيان

واجريتَ فيهِ رحيق البيان

فاثملَ قارئهُ والسميع

فاثملَ قارئهُ والسميع

And made the nectar of eloquence flow through it,

And infused in it the nectar of rhetoric

So it intoxicated its reader and listener.

So its reader became fruitful and the listener

وقرَّب للذهن ادراكهُ

وقرَّب للذهن ادراكهُ

فحنَّ اليهِ الصبيُّ الرضيع

فحنَّ اليهِ الصبيُّ الرضيع

And made it easy for the mind to grasp,

And brought its understanding closer to the mind

So the suckling child yearned for it.

So the content child inclined toward it

وذلك من معجزات القريض

وذلك من معجزات القريض

وغاي الكلام وآي البديع

وغاي الكلام وآي البديع

And that is among the miracles of poetry,

And that is of the miracles of poetry

And the pinnacles of speech and the marvels of rhetorical art.

And the heights of speech and wonders of rhetoric

فلله أنتَ وما تستجيد

فلله أنتَ وما تستجيد

ولله أنتَ وما تستطيع

ولله أنتَ وما تستطيع

So praise be to God for you and what you deem excellent!

So to God you are and what you excel at

And praise be to God for you and what you can achieve!

And to God you are and what you can do

ولله نظمك بين النظيم

ولله نظمك بين النظيم

ولله فضلك بين الجميع

ولله فضلك بين الجميع

And praise be to God for your verse among all verse!

And to God is your composition among compositions

And praise be to God for your excellence among all people!

And to God is your merit among all
