    وحجاك مجمع آيهِ الغُرِّ

    This reed pen of yours is poetry’s polisher;

    And your intellect is where its radiant verses gather.

    And your poetry is the vast, deep sea—can

    Exhaustion ever touch the pearls of the sea?

    من كل معنًى شائقٍ بكرِ

    Each day, every rhyming verse is yours,

    Drawn from every captivating, original idea;

    It is unveiled and recited; then you send it forth,

    And it is borne like a bride from land to land.

    You have kept bestowing these radiant verses upon us,

    And joining them, pearl to pearl,

    Until you clothed verse in its finery

    And made your poetry the marvel of the age.
