زُرتُ الاحبَّةَ في الظلام فاوقدوا
بدلاًinstead منof المصباحthe lamp مصبَاحَينِtwo lamps
بدلاً من المصباح مصبَاحَينِ
I visited my loved ones in the darkness, and they lit
I visited my loved ones in the dark, so they lit
two lamps instead of one.
Two lamps instead of one,
اتخيَّلونيDid they imagine me ظلمةًdarkness قدhad جئتهُمI came to them
اتخيَّلوني ظلمةً قد جئتهُم
فيin ظلمةٍdarkness فاستصبحواso they lit نُورَينِtwo lights
في ظلمةٍ فاستصبحوا نُورَينِ
Did they take me for darkness when I had come to them
Thinking me a darkness that had come to them
in darkness, and so light two lights?
In the dark, and so dawned two lights
