I pass the night, while longing in my breast is kindled by the
yearnings, and tears, like a cloud pouring rain,

stream down like scattered pearls, then are strung
by the breaths of my verse into a necklace, radiant as the stars.

As though I had robbed the sea of its pearls,
so it charged Love to reclaim them in full from my eyes.

If only the owner of my heart, seeing them upon
my cheeks, scattered, would count them with kisses.
