جمعتhave gathered بهاin it الحكَّامُthe rulers كلَّevery مزيَّةٍexcellence
جمعت بها الحكَّامُ كلَّ مزيَّةٍ
ابداًalways تحبّبُmakes appealing نحوهاtoward it الأسفاراthe journeys
ابداً تحبّبُ نحوها الأسفارا
The rulers have gathered in it every excellence,
The rulers gathered in it every glory,
Forever making journeys toward it appealing.
The journeys forever incline affectionately towards it.
لاnot ينفقونthey spend زمانهمtheir time بسفاسفٍon trifles
لا ينفقون زمانهم بسفاسفٍ
تذرleave البلادَthe land بلاقعاًdesolate wastes وقفاراand barren tracts
تذر البلادَ بلاقعاً وقفارا
They do not spend their time on trifles
They do not spend their time on trivialities,
That leave the land desolate and barren.
That would leave the countries desolate and barren.
هذيthese المعاهدthe sites لاnot طويلعṬuwayliʿ واللوىand al-Liwā
هذي المعاهد لا طويلع واللوى
هذيthese المشاهدthe sights لاnot مدائنcities درDar (uncertain name reading)
هذي المشاهد لا مدائن در
These are the sites, not Ṭuwayliʿ or al-Liwā;
These are not lasting covenants or affections,
These are the sights, not the cities of Dar.
These are not everlasting cities of wealth.
