If you debase your soul, you will find no one to honor
it once you have exposed it to humiliation.

If I meet people with insolence and foul speech,
then expect humiliation by hand and tongue.
لَعمركby your life ماnot أَدىfulfilled امرؤa man حقthe due صاحِبof a friend
اِذاif كانَhe is لاnot يَرعاهُcaring for him فيin الحَدَثانlife's misfortunes
By your life, no man has given a friend his due
if he does not care for him amid life's misfortunes.
وَلاand not أَدركattained الحاجاتِthe aims مِثلُlike مثابِرone who perseveres

And none achieves his aims like one who perseveres,
and nothing hinders their success like indolence [probable reading].
