وَيَمنَعُني التَكَلُّمُ في كَثير

وَيَمنَعُني التَكَلُّمُ في كَثير

أَقول لِما يَكونَ مِن الجَوابِ

أَقول لِما يَكونَ مِن الجَوابِ

And I am held back from speaking of much

Much I wish to say, yet must refrain

I would say, because of the reply that might come.

In speaking to replies I may obtain

وَمن خشي الجَواب أَقُل نَطقاً

وَمن خشي الجَواب أَقُل نَطقاً

وَإِن كانَ المقدم في الصَوابِ

وَإِن كانَ المقدم في الصَوابِ

And whoever fears the reply speaks less,

He who fears response speaks little more

Even if the first speaker is in the right.

Though he were right in all he said before
