Shall I live, or leave the days to others?

I am weary of my world because of my worry and obsessive doubts.

If one day I say, 'Enough of what has made me suffer,'

I return to revive my dreams with my reassurance.

I have immortalized my poetry in my soul, and I think it

Will end when my graves split open.

The daughters of my thought are treasures beyond counting.

So why is my heart stricken by my bankruptcy?

If another says, 'The wealth I gather is enough for me,'

I say, 'My paper is all I need from my world.'

I gave my art all that my time had given me:

My life, my thought, my hopes, and my feelings.

And from art I have thorns that suffice me,

In place of every flower, richly fragrant and swaying.

    And fate has bewildering decrees:

Some merciful, and some unjust and cruel.

When I wish for something, my time says to me:

'You are not one to forget the black calamities.'

And if I despair, I have a place in the Fire,

As though I had killed a thousand people.

O my Lord, if what is coming is like what preceded it,

Then stretch death's cord from the cord of my breaths.

    فهل تزيدُ على الأيّام أرجاسي

    I have spent my life amid defilements, drawing near to them;

So do my defilements exceed the days?
