We ransom your sanctuary with our souls,

For we are the lions, and you are the den.

أقيمي على الدهر عرش الخلود

وهزّى بصوتك قلب الوجود

Raise above time the throne of immortality,

Establish the throne of immortality through the ages,

And shake the heart of existence with your voice.

وهبّي فهذا أوان الصراع

وهبّي فهذا أوان الصراع

وقد آن للبغى ألّا يسود

وقد آن للبغى ألّا يسود

And rise, for this is the hour of struggle,

Rise up, for this is the time of struggle,

And the time has come for tyranny to rule no more.

سنحميك من كل وغد أثيم

سنحميك من كل وغد أثيم

ونُصلى أعاديك نار الجحيم

ونُصلى أعاديك نار الجحيم

We shall protect you from every sinful scoundrel,

We will protect you from every wretched tomorrow,

And make your enemies burn in the fire of Hell.

And pray hellfire upon your enemies.

ونكتب بالسيف تاريخنا

ونكتب بالسيف تاريخنا

ونبعث مجد الجدود القديم

ونبعث مجد الجدود القديم

And we shall write our history with the sword,

We will write our history with the sword,

And revive the ancient glory of our forebears.

And revive the ancient glory of our ancestors.

فلسطين نحن شباب الفداء

هتفت بنا فأجبنا النداء

Palestine, we are the youth of self-sacrifice,

Palestine, we are the youth of redemption,

You called out to us, so we answered the call.

وحيّي بني العرب الأقوياء

So salute Arabism in its war,

So greet Arabism in its war,

And salute the mighty sons of the Arabs.

محوت بنورك جنح الظلام

محوت بنورك جنح الظلام

ولا زلت للنيل حدّ الحسام

ولا زلت للنيل حدّ الحسام

With your light, you dispelled the mantle of darkness,

You erased the wings of darkness with your light,

And may you ever remain the sword's edge for the Nile.

And you continue to wield the sword of the Nile.

فأنت هوى الشرق أنت الحجاز

فأنت هوى الشرق أنت الحجاز

وروح العراق وقلب الشآم

وروح العراق وقلب الشآم

For you are the East's beloved; you are the Hijaz,

You are the passion of the East, you are Hejaz,

And the soul of Iraq and the heart of al-Sham.

The spirit of Iraq and the heart of Syria.

لك المجد في الأرض منذ القدم

فمدّى جناحيك صوب القمم

Glory has been yours on earth since antiquity,

Glory is yours on earth since the beginning,

So spread your two wings toward the summits.

فقد أقسم العرب أن يفتدوك

فقد أقسم العرب أن يفتدوك

فإمّا وجودٌ وإمّا عدم

فإمّا وجودٌ وإمّا عدم

For the Arabs have sworn to ransom you:

The Arabs have sworn to liberate you,

So either existence—or nothingness.

Either existence or oblivion.
