مَنwhoever راقَبَwatches الناسَpeople ماتَdies غَمّاًof grief
مَن راقَبَ الناسَ ماتَ غَمّاً
وَفازَand succeeds بِاللّذَّةِin gaining pleasure الجَسورُthe daring one
وَفازَ بِاللّذَّةِ الجَسورُ
Whoever watches others dies of grief,
He who spies on people will die of sorrow
He who watches the people dies of grief,
and the daring one wins pleasure.
And the daring will gain pleasure
And the daring one wins the pleasure.

Were it not for lovers' hopes, they would die
If not for the wishes of lovers, they would die
Were it not for the hopes of lovers, they would have died
of grief; and some hopes are delusion.
Of sorrow, and some wishes are deception
Of sorrow, though some hopes are but delusion.
