أَرجو نَداهُ وَالخَيرُ مُطَّلَبُ
I made for Musa, the Imam, seeking favor,
I yearned for Moses the imam,
I directed my course toward Musa the Imam, full of hope,
I hope for his bounty, and goodness is sought after.
Hoping for his call and goodness sought,
Seeking his bounty, for goodness is a prize to be pursued,

Quraysh’s two branches in glory and nobility,
Leader of Quraish in honor and generosity,
The scion of Quraysh in glory and high honor,
And the greatest of men when he traces his lineage.
Greatest of men when it comes to ancestry.
And the greatest of mankind when lineages are reckoned,

Were it not for your guidance and your forebear’s merit,
Without your guidance and excellence of your ancestors,
Were it not for your guidance and the grace of your First One,
The Arabs would not have known what the root of their religion was.
The Arabs wouldn't know the origin of their faith.
The Arabs would never have known the true root of their faith.
