And where is he who mended Islam the day it faltered,
And where is he who restored Islam when it faltered,
And where is he who mended Islam the day it fractured,
and rescued the people from blind, unyielding calamity?
And saved the people from the darkness of ignorance?
And rescued the people from a blind, scorching calamity?

يا اِبنَ الرَبيعِ وَأَعطَوا بِالمَقاليدِ
Quraysh said, the morning their dominion collapsed,
The Quraysh said at the dawn of his kingdom rising,
Quraysh spoke on the morning their dominion was established,
“O son of al-Rabiʿ!” and handed over the keys of power.
"O son of Rabia, surrender the keys!"
Crying, "O son of al-Rabi'!" as they handed over the keys.

ماضي العَزيمَةِ ضَرّابُ القَماحيدِ
So one at ease in his solitude took charge of affairs,
So he took charge of the matter, resolute and alone,
So he undertook the command, finding company in his own solitude,
firm in resolve, a fierce smiter of mighty heads.
Unwavering in purpose, slayer of warriors.
Unwavering in resolve, a striker of defiant skulls.
إِنَّindeed الأُمورَaffairs إِذاwhen ضاقَتgrew narrow مَسالِكُهاtheir paths
إِنَّ الأُمورَ إِذا ضاقَت مَسالِكُها

حَلَّت يَدُ الفَضلِ مِنها كُلَّ مَعقودِ
Indeed, when the paths of affairs grow narrow,
When matters grow too narrow for their channels,
For indeed, whenever the paths of affairs become constricted,
the hand of al-Fadl unties every knot in them.
The hand of excellence frees each knot.
The hand of al-Fadl unravels every knot within them.
إِنَّindeed الرَبيعَal-Rabiʿ وَإِنَّand indeed الفَضلَal-Fadl قَدalready بَنَياthey both built

Indeed, al-Rabiʿ and al-Fadl have together built
Verily, Rabia and excellence built
Truly, al-Rabi' and al-Fadl have erected
a canopy of glory stretched over al-ʿAbbas.
An abode of glory upon Al-Abbas outstretched.
A pavilion of glory, stretched high over al-Abbas.
