لَماwhen بَداappeared كَوكَبstar العَلياءglory وَاشتهرتand became renowned
لَما بَدا كَوكَب العَلياء وَاشتهرت
مِنfrom مَصرEgypt أَنوارهits lights فيin سائرall الدولِthe nations
مِن مَصر أَنواره في سائر الدولِ
When the star of glory rose, and word spread
Of its radiance from Egypt throughout all nations,
وَأَصبَحand became الصَدرthe chief تَوفيقٌTawfiq لمولدهthrough his birth
وَأَصبَح الصَدر تَوفيقٌ لمولده
مؤيداًsupported بِالظُباby the sword-blades مِنهُfrom him وَبِالأسلand by the spears
مؤيداً بِالظُبا مِنهُ وَبِالأسل
And Tawfiq, the chief, through his birth became
Strengthened by his sword-blades and spears,
وَالشَمسand the sun أَضحَتbecame بِهَذاthrough this البَدرthe full moon مُشرِقَةًradiant
وَالشَمس أَضحَت بِهَذا البَدر مُشرِقَةً
ماemphatic particle بَينَamong أَترابِهاher peers فيin دارةthe circle of الحملAries
ما بَينَ أَترابِها في دارة الحمل
And the sun grew radiant through this full moon,
Among her peers in the circle of Aries,
وَقَدand indeed تبسمsmiled عَباسٌAbbas لرؤيتهat seeing him
وَقَد تبسم عَباسٌ لرؤيته
وَفازَand succeeded جدّاهماtheir two grandfathers اِسماعيلُIsmail بالأملin attaining the hope
وَفازَ جدّاهما اِسماعيلُ بالأمل
And Abbas indeed smiled at seeing him,
And their two grandfathers, Ismail, attained their hope,
روتrecounted مَعاليهhis glories عَنon the authority of مَجديMajdi مؤرخةًrecording the date
