الدَهر قابل بِالتَهاني وَالتَحيهْ

الدَهر قابل بِالتَهاني وَالتَحيهْ

وَصفا سُرور يُوسف لِلعَسكريهْ

Time greeted him with congratulations and salutations.

Time greeted him with congratulations and welcome

And Yusuf's joy in military service grew unclouded.

Describing Yusuf's joy to the army

وَرِضا سَعيدِ الملك عَنهُ زاده

وَرِضا سَعيدِ الملك عَنهُ زاده

فَرحاً بِهِ اِبتهجت نُفوسٌ هاشميه

فَرحاً بِهِ اِبتهجت نُفوسٌ هاشميه

And Sa'id the sovereign's approval of him increased his

And the king's pleasure with him increased

Joy; Hashemite souls rejoiced in him.

So the Hashimite souls rejoiced for him

وَتَبسمت لِقبوله أَيامنا

وَتَبسمت لِقبوله أَيامنا

في مَصرنا وَالبشر قَد عَم البَريه

في مَصرنا وَالبشر قَد عَم البَريه

And our days smiled at his acceptance

In our Egypt, and gladness had pervaded all creation.

وَتَفاخَرت بيض الصفاح بِعَودة

طربت لَها سمر الرِماح السمهريه

And the white sword-blades boasted of a return

The whites of spears took pride in his return

At which the brown, sturdy spears rejoiced.

Bronze lances were gladdened for it

وَعَلى البَنادق لاحَ رَونَق بَهجة

وَعَلى البَنادق لاحَ رَونَق بَهجة

بِوجوده بَينَ الجُنود الداوريه

بِوجوده بَينَ الجُنود الداوريه

And a sheen of delight shone upon the guns

And on the rifles shone the splendor of delight

Through his presence among the royal troops.

With his presence among the Deawar soldiers

يا أَيُّها الصدّيق طب نَفساً وَعش

يا أَيُّها الصدّيق طب نَفساً وَعش

في نعمة ياذا المَعالي كسرويه

في نعمة ياذا المَعالي كسرويه

O truthful one, be of good cheer and live

O friend, relax and live in bounty

In Khosrow-like prosperity, O possessor of lofty honors.

O you of glorious traits and lineage Sasravi

وَاصفح فَقَد حَلف الزَمان بِأَنَّه

وَاصفح فَقَد حَلف الزَمان بِأَنَّه

يَأتي بِما يُرضيك مِن تحف سَنيه

يَأتي بِما يُرضيك مِن تحف سَنيه

And forgive, for Time has sworn that it

Forgive, for time has sworn

Will bring what pleases you: splendid gifts.

That it will bring you pleasing gifts

فَالحَمد لِلّه الَّذي كَبت العِدا

فَالحَمد لِلّه الَّذي كَبت العِدا

وَحَباك بِالإِقبال وَالرتب العَليه

وَحَباك بِالإِقبال وَالرتب العَليه

So praise be to God, who subdued the foes,

So praise be to God who defeated the enemies

And favored you with good fortune and lofty ranks,

And granted you success, and high office

وَكَساك مِن حلل المَهابة ما بِهِ

وَكَساك مِن حلل المَهابة ما بِهِ

يَمتاز كُل مُوفَّق حسن الطَويه

يَمتاز كُل مُوفَّق حسن الطَويه

And clothed you in robes of majesty by which

And clothed you in robes of awe, with which

Every favored man of good intent stands apart.

Every successful man of good stock is distinguished

لا زلت في جَيش السَعيد محمد

لا زلت في جَيش السَعيد محمد

تَزداد تشريفاً صَباحاً مَع عَشيه

تَزداد تشريفاً صَباحاً مَع عَشيه

May you ever remain in Muhammad Sa'id's army,

You remain in the army of happy Mohamed

Growing in honor, morning and evening,

Ever increasing in rank, morning and evening

ما قالَ مَجدي في الهَناء مُؤرِّخاً

ما قالَ مَجدي في الهَناء مُؤرِّخاً

دامَت لِيُوسف حية رتبٌ بَهيه

دامَت لِيُوسف حية رتبٌ بَهيه

As long as Majdi says in celebration, composing a chronogram:

Magdi said in praise, chronicling

May splendid ranks live on for Yusuf.
