Through you, the illustrious state in Egypt ascends

To the crown of the radiant full moon, and prospers.

And in your outstretched shade it attains its desire,

Through your excellent, praiseworthy judgment in governing.

And, by God's leave, its decayed remains revive,

And you remove from it what inflames the eye.

And you erase the traces of blameworthy waywardness,

By sound guidance for it, reinforced by distinction.

And you uproot ruinous oppression with a keen blade,

Sheathed in the head in defense of justice.

And you mortally pierce the heart of harmful ignorance

With arrows of learning whose benefit is assured.

And with resolve you grant it abundance and wealth,

And fulfillment of wishes, bringing everlasting glory.

And you ward off every calamity from it with high resolve,

Whose slaves are judgment, planning, and good fortune.

And you fill it with justice, bounty, and wisdom,

And nobility and prosperity, to which the adversary bears witness.

And you keep from it whatever might hinder it

From taking the lead on the racecourse of new developments.

And you grant it the civilization it seeks,

For which cities envy it, without a doubt.

And you uphold God's religion through an endeavor of yours,

Through which Islam grows mighty and polytheism is quenched.

And someone fearful among us finds safety under your protection,

Against what once threatened his own life.

And our days grow serene in your age, in which

One given a promise receives what is expected of you.

And within it, for happiness, you always open

Paths by which a servant and a master grow rich.

And from your lofty station you guard its domain with a glance,

At which the high-nosed rise and sit.

And you apply to redressing wrongs a thought

That blazes with the light of guidance for all time.

And, without doubt, you roll up the scroll of ambitions

For which, before now, someone other than you was singled out.

And you devote to spreading contentment the means by which

The seas of amusement and greed run dry.

And you repeal rulings whose devising was dictated

By matters the Prophet Muhammad forbade.

And you excel in training the armies, through which

The lions of battle scatter at the clash.

And you plant in the world the roots of prosperity,

Whose nightingales warble in every meadow.

And beneath the banner of glory you attain your wishes,

And uproot the traces of those who rebelled.

And deep-rooted glory serves you as long as there appears

A crescent, and as long as a believer in one God prays and fasts,

And as long as poems are recited in your praise,

    To which eloquent masters of verse and prose bear witness;

And as long as I say, in gracious congratulations, marking the date:

"Egypt has, by God's favor, a bringer of happiness."
