هَذاthis ضَريحtomb النَقشبنديal-Naqshbandi الَّذيwho
هَذا ضَريح النَقشبندي الَّذي
هُوَhe فيin التُقىpiety بَينَamong البَريةhumankind أَوحَدُpeerless
هُوَ في التُقى بَينَ البَرية أَوحَدُ
This is the tomb of al-Naqshbandi, who
This is the tomb of Naqshbandi who
is peerless in piety among humankind.
Was unique in piety among mankind
وَهُوَand he الَّذيwho وَرثinherited السَماحةgenerosity وَالعُلاand eminence
وَهُوَ الَّذي وَرث السَماحة وَالعُلا
عَمَّنfrom whom إِلَيهِto him كُلevery فَضلٍvirtue يُسنَدis ascribed
عَمَّن إِلَيهِ كُل فَضلٍ يُسنَد
And he is the one who inherited generosity and eminence
He who inherited generosity and sublimity
from him to whom every virtue is ascribed.
From the one to whom all excellence is attributed
تاقتyearned إِلىfor جَناتgardens عَدنٍEden نَفسهhis soul
تاقت إِلى جَنات عَدنٍ نَفسه
فَسَعىso he hastened إِلىto مَولاهhis Lord وَهوَwhile he was مُوَحّدa believer in God’s oneness
فَسَعى إِلى مَولاه وَهوَ مُوَحّد
His soul yearned for the Gardens of Eden,
His soul longed for the gardens of Eden
so he hastened to his Lord, affirming His oneness.
So he strove towards his Lord in oneness
وَاِختارَهُand chose him العَباسal-Abbas عَمpaternal uncle المُصطَفىthe Chosen One
وَاِختارَهُ العَباس عَم المُصطَفى
جاراًas a neighbor بقبتهat his domed shrine فَطابso became sweet المرقدthe resting place
جاراً بقبته فَطاب المرقد
And al-Abbas, the Chosen One’s paternal uncle, chose him
And al-Abbas uncle of Mustafa chose him
as a neighbor at his domed shrine, so the resting place grew sweet.
As a neighbor by his dome, so the tomb was blessed
وَالحُورand the houris فيon سلخthe last day of المحرّمMuharram أَرّختrecorded the date
وَالحُور في سلخ المحرّم أَرّخت
لِلبَدرfor the full moon عَباسAbbas أَضاءshone مُحَمدMuhammad
لِلبَدر عَباس أَضاء مُحَمد
And the houris, on Muharram’s last day, recorded the date:
And the maidens on the night of 1st Muharram dated
“For Abbas, the full moon, Muhammad shone.”
The full moon Abbas gave light to Muhammad
