شَمس المَعالي في سَماء تمدُّنِ

شَمس المَعالي في سَماء تمدُّنِ

جاءَت بِبَدرٍ مِن مَكين أَمكَنِ

جاءَت بِبَدرٍ مِن مَكين أَمكَنِ

The sun of lofty honors in civilization's sky

The sun of glory in the sky of civilization

Brought forth a full moon from one eminent, most firmly established.

Came with a full moon from a sure rising place

فَأَضاءَت الدُنيا بِطَلعته الَّتي

فَأَضاءَت الدُنيا بِطَلعته الَّتي

عَن وَصفِها قَد كَلَّ كُلُّ مُفنِّن

عَن وَصفِها قَد كَلَّ كُلُّ مُفنِّن

And so the world shone with his countenance, which

So it illuminated the world with its rising

Every artist has grown weary trying to describe.

That made every eloquent one unable to describe

وَبِشَهر عيد الفطر لاحَ وَإِنَّهُ

وَبِشَهر عيد الفطر لاحَ وَإِنَّهُ

في يَوم مَولده ضِياءُ الأَعيُن

في يَوم مَولده ضِياءُ الأَعيُن

And in the month of Eid al-Fitr he shone forth; indeed,

And with the month of Eid al-Fitr it appeared

On the day of his birth, he is the light of the eyes.

On the day of its birth, the light of eyes

وَإِلى أَبيهِ بِمَصر سامي جدّه

وَإِلى أَبيهِ بِمَصر سامي جدّه

أَومى برفعة منصبٍ وَتمكن

أَومى برفعة منصبٍ وَتمكن

And to his father in Egypt, whose fortune is lofty,

And to its father in Egypt, its magnificent grandfather

He signaled elevation in office and firm standing,

It gestured with a lofty position and stability

وَعلوّ مَنزلة تَحلَّى جيدُها

وَعلوّ مَنزلة تَحلَّى جيدُها

بِمَدائحٍ تُتلى بِكُل الأَلسُن

بِمَدائحٍ تُتلى بِكُل الأَلسُن

And an exalted station whose neck was adorned

And an elevated status adorned its neck

With praises recited in every tongue.

With praises recited by all tongues

يا أَحمَد الخَير الَّذي بِذَكائه

يا أَحمَد الخَير الَّذي بِذَكائه

نالَ المُنى في مَصر أَشرَفُ مَوطن

نالَ المُنى في مَصر أَشرَفُ مَوطن

O Ahmad the good, who through his intelligence

O Ahmed the good, who with his intelligence

Attained his wishes in Egypt, the noblest homeland:

Attained wishes in Egypt, the noblest abode

بُشراك بِالنجل الَّذي في وَجهِهِ

بُشراك بِالنجل الَّذي في وَجهِهِ

تَبدو لِناظره صَباحةُ مؤمن

تَبدو لِناظره صَباحةُ مؤمن

Glad tidings to you of the son in whose face

Congratulations on the boy in whose face

A believer's comeliness appears to whoever beholds him.

Appears to the onlooker the radiance of a believer

فَهوَ الَّذي في مَهدِهِ سادَ المَلا

فَهوَ الَّذي في مَهدِهِ سادَ المَلا

بِالخَلق وَالخُلُقِ الحَميد الأَحسَن

بِالخَلق وَالخُلُقِ الحَميد الأَحسَن

For he is the one who, in his cradle, held sway over the assembly

It is he who in his cradle ruled the summit

Through his form and his praiseworthy, finest character.

With good manners and excellent noble traits

لا زلت بالتَصديق مَعْهُ رافِلاً

لا زلت بالتَصديق مَعْهُ رافِلاً

في حالة العَلياء وَالعَيش الهَني

في حالة العَلياء وَالعَيش الهَني

May you ever, with faith, revel beside him

I still affirm with it overflowing

In high estate and a pleasant life,

In a state of sublimity and pleasant living

ما قالَ في الميلاد مَجدي أَرخوا

ما قالَ في الميلاد مَجدي أَرخوا

لِمحمد أَنوار نَشأت محسن

لِمحمد أَنوار نَشأت محسن

As long as Majdi says of the birth, 'Record the date:

What Majdi said about the birth, chronicle

For Muhammad are the lights of a benefactor's birth.'

For Muhammad, lights arose well-made
