    The printing house's spirit returned, and there appeared

    the restoration of what had fallen into disrepair in its structure.

    And its door opened to those who wished

    to print every splendid work that pleased and stood apart.

    For the astute Abid al-Rahman secured it

    as his property, and became its support in our Egypt.

    And he took care to present the sciences well through it,

    and to spread them among those who prayed and those who prostrated.

    And in this world he undertook, for its inhabitants,

    duties for which we owe him praise in our midst.

    May he ever revive the dead arts through it throughout

    all time, and through it forget no one,

    أَجرى مَذاكيه في مضماره وَعدا

    so long as a man of letters ever longs for a waft of perfume,

    one who has run his seasoned steeds on his racecourse and raced;

    هَذا الأَمير الَّذي أَوفى بِما عَهدا

    and so long as Majdi ponders the praise of

    this emir, who fulfilled what he pledged;

    and so long as the printing house takes pride in him, since

    it passed to his exalted self and grew in right guidance through him.

    Or I said, when he acquired it as his own, to record its date:

    The printing house—Rushdi acquired it and gave guidance.
