سَيفsword الأَميرthe prince لنصرto champion الحَقthe truth مَشهورُunsheathed
سَيف الأَمير لنصر الحَق مَشهورُ
وَسَعيهand his striving دائِماًalways للخَيرfor good مَشكورُappreciated
وَسَعيه دائِماً للخَير مَشكورُ
The prince's sword is drawn to champion the truth,
The prince's sword is renowned for defending what's right
And his striving for good is ever appreciated.
And his efforts for good are always appreciated
فَكَمfor how many لَهُhe has مِنof أَيادfavors لَيسَdoes not يَحصرهاfully enumerate them
فَكَم لَهُ مِن أَياد لَيسَ يَحصرها
بِالعَدّby counting فيin الكُتبthe books مَنظومverse وَمَنثورand prose
بِالعَدّ في الكُتب مَنظوم وَمَنثور
For so many are his favors that they cannot be numbered
He has so many great deeds, they can't be counted
By verse and prose in books.
In prose or verse, however hard books try to record them
وَكَمand how much لَهُhe has مِنof سَدادsound judgment تَحتهbeneath it علَمٌa banner
وَكَم لَهُ مِن سَداد تَحته علَمٌ
عَلىabove رؤسheads بَنيsons of العرفانlearning مَنشورunfurled
عَلى رؤس بَني العرفان مَنشور
And how much sound judgment is his, beneath which a banner
And he has so much integrity, banners fly announcing it
Is unfurled above the heads of the sons of learning.
Above the heads of the wise and renowned
ياO أَحمَدAhmad الخَيرgoodness إِنيindeed I فيin ذِمامكyour protection لاnot
يا أَحمَد الخَير إِني في ذِمامك لا
أَخشىI fear أُموراًmatters بِهاconcerning them قَدindeed هَمّcontemplated مَغرورa deluded man
أَخشى أُموراً بِها قَد هَمّ مَغرور
O benevolent Ahmad, I am under your protection; I do not
O Ahmad of goodness, in your reins I have no fear
Fear matters a deluded man has contemplated.
Of matters which deluded souls may scheme
وَكَيفَand how يَهضمdiminishes مِنيof me جانِبيmy standing زَمَنٌtime
وَكَيفَ يَهضم مِني جانِبي زَمَنٌ
وَإِنَّنيand indeed I بِكَthrough you طُولthroughout الدَهرtime مَنصورsupported
وَإِنَّني بِكَ طُول الدَهر مَنصور
And how could time diminish my standing,
How could time ever slight me on any side
When, through you, I am supported for all time?
When you make me victorious for all ages?
وَغايةand the point of الأَمرthe matter أَنيthat I مِنكَfrom you مُنتَظرٌawaiting
وَغاية الأَمر أَني مِنكَ مُنتَظرٌ
لِبَعضfor some of ماwhat هُوَit is عَنabout عَلياكyour eminence مَأثورrecounted
لِبَعض ما هُوَ عَن عَلياك مَأثور
And the heart of the matter is that I await from you
My hope in the end is for some of what's attributed
Some of what is recounted of your eminence.
To your lofty self to reach me
لاmay not زلتyou cease to be ليfor me مَلجأa refuge فيin حلّresolving مُشكلةa difficulty
لا زلت لي مَلجأ في حلّ مُشكلة
لَهاto it تَصدّىtackled بِسُوءwith poor الفهمunderstanding مَأمورan official
لَها تَصدّى بِسُوء الفهم مَأمور
May you ever remain my refuge in resolving a difficulty
You remain a refuge for me to resolve any dilemma
That an official has tackled with poor understanding.
