شَهر الصِيام أَتى بِأَبهَج مَولدِ

شَهر الصِيام أَتى بِأَبهَج مَولدِ

لِلصادق النَجل الرَفيع المحتدِ

لِلصادق النَجل الرَفيع المحتدِ

The month of fasting brought the most joyous birth

The month of fasting has come with the most joyous birth

Of the truthful son of exalted lineage.

Of the truthful son, the noble and virtuous one

وَبَدا لِوالده الكميّ هلاله

وَبَدا لِوالده الكميّ هلاله

مِن شَمس حُسن مثلُها لَم يُوجد

مِن شَمس حُسن مثلُها لَم يُوجد

And his crescent moon appeared to his father, the valiant warrior,

And for his father its crescent has appeared

From a sun of beauty whose like has never been found.

From a sun of beauty the like of which has not been found

فَلَثامنٍ مِن بَعد عَشرٍ قَد خَلَت

فَلَثامنٍ مِن بَعد عَشرٍ قَد خَلَت

مِن ذَلِكَ الشَهر الكَريم المُفرَد

مِن ذَلِكَ الشَهر الكَريم المُفرَد

So, on the eighth after ten days had passed

So on the eighth after ten have passed

Of that noble, peerless month,

Of that noble and peerless month

أَنشدت مِن طَرَب بِذاك مُؤرِّخاً

أَنشدت مِن طَرَب بِذاك مُؤرِّخاً

سَعدت أَمانة يُوسف بِمحمد

سَعدت أَمانة يُوسف بِمحمد

I recited in joy at this, recording the date:

I recited out of joy with that dating

“Yusuf’s trust was blessed with Muhammad.”
