for the exalted leader, defender of the homelands.

what nourishes, but not from lawful magic.

a splendor beneath which lie the loftiest mountains.

to him in his Egypt, among his retainers,

and when his scion, Tosun, for whom lives would be sacrificed,

is commander of the troops and men?

So may joy, at every festival, never cease

to congratulate him as the nights come round.

And may we ever mark its date: ‘Saʿid

    honored Eid al-Fitr with bounty.’
