    بِهِ تَحيا الرَعية وَالعَبيدُ

    The joy of al-Dawari—he is Sa'id, the fortunate;

through him, the subjects and slaves live.

And Yahya and his Ja'far, the eminent chief,

are beside him no more than some of his followers.

What an excellent leader—the best of all people!

He has indeed revived Egypt by spreading justice.

And so he earned a reward for that beneficence,

and rose above the leaders of old.

Come on the day of the festival,

and on the days of lovely rejoicing.

Let us gallop in the arenas of congratulation,

within a fortress that has become impregnable in Egypt.

In it we find the batteries furnished with cannon,

and with the howitzer that a covetous foe fears,

and with mortars, in which lie benefits

for us, while their harm never misses a contemptible man.

Together we hasten to the citadel of the finest leader,

ruler of the people, slave and free:

    Sa'id al-Dawari, Egypt's mighty lord,

of deep-rooted glory, a treasure for those who come.

Indeed, by his father and the seven oft-repeated verses,

and by the Lord of the House and the Yemeni Corner,

we have indeed attained every wish through him.

And Time made peace with us and did not forget us.

And through him, the sound of the lute strings revived us.

So need we fear the vicissitudes of time?

And how could we, when he has no equal in justice?

    May the Lord of the worlds preserve him for us;

may He preserve him for us in honor and glory,

throughout all time, beneath the banner of good fortune.

And may the days never cease to reveal to him,

in times of joy, a manifest victory.

And may his armies never cease, through his resolve,

and the excellence of his judgment and his sound decisiveness,

and the strength of his valor and his splendid organization,

to trample the lion's den, so great is the awe he inspires.

And may we never cease to pass round cups of gladness

under his rule, until the Gathering and Resurrection,

and always walk proudly in a robe of pride,

    safe in his spacious courtyard.
