صَدارةhigh office إسماعيلIsmail نسلscion الأَكارمِthe noble
صَدارة إسماعيل نسل الأَكارمِ
تَحلَّىbecame adorned بِهاwith it كَالدُرlike pearls جيدُthe neck المَكارمِnoble virtues
تَحلَّى بِها كَالدُر جيدُ المَكارمِ
The high office of Ismail, scion of the noble,
The noble lineage of Ismail, offspring of the generous
has adorned the neck of noble virtues like pearls.
Adorned with virtues like a pearl, necklace of generosity
وَأَخلاقand the character هذاthis الصَدرchief تَشهدbears witness أَنَّهُthat he
وَأَخلاق هذا الصَدر تَشهد أَنَّهُ
شَريفnoble كَريمhonorable الأَصلlineage مِنfrom آلthe house of هاشمHashim
شَريف كَريم الأَصل مِن آل هاشم
And this chief's character bears witness that he is
And this heart's morals testify that he
noble, of honorable lineage, from the house of Hashim.
Is a noble and kind man of Hashimite origin
وَلَوand even if أَنَّنيthat I أَصبَحتI became كلِّيَall of me أَلسُناًtongues
وَلَو أَنَّني أَصبَحت كلِّيَ أَلسُناً
وَعُمِّرتand I was granted long life أَعمارlifespans النُسورthe vultures القَشاعمaged
وَعُمِّرت أَعمار النُسور القَشاعم
And even if I became nothing but tongues,
And if I had tongues speaking all at once
and were granted the lifespans of aged vultures,
And lived as long as ancient eagles
وَأَحرزتand I won فَضلdistinction السَبقprecedence فيin كُلevery محفلgathering
وَأَحرزت فَضل السَبق في كُل محفل
عَلىover ناثرٍa prose writer عَذبsweet المَقالspeech وَناظمand a poet
عَلى ناثرٍ عَذب المَقال وَناظم
and won the distinction of precedence at every gathering
And excelled every eloquent speaker and composer
over sweet-spoken prose writers and poets,
In every gathering with my speech
لقصرتI would fall short عَنof إِحصاcounting مَناقبهhis virtues الَّتيwhich
لقصرت عَن إِحصا مَناقبه الَّتي
بأيسرهاwith the least of them يَزدانis adorned رَبlord المَراحمmercies
بأيسرها يَزدان رَب المَراحم
I would fall short of counting his virtues, whose
I would still fall short of recounting his virtues
least adorns the lord of mercies.
The least of which adorns the Lord of Mercy
