نَوالbounty يمناكyour right hand وَهوَand it is العارضthe raincloud الهاميpouring rain
نَوال يمناك وَهوَ العارض الهامي
بِهِthrough it تحققcame true قَبلbefore الآنnow إِلهاميmy inspiration
بِهِ تحقق قَبل الآن إِلهامي
The bounty of your right hand is the raincloud pouring down;
Your right hand grants protection, though fate frowns.
through it, my inspiration had already come true.
In it my dreams of old are now fulfilled.
وَسَيفكand your sword العَضبkeen-edged فيin غَمدٍa scabbard لَهُbelonging to it أَبَداًalways
وَسَيفك العَضب في غَمدٍ لَهُ أَبَداً
يوديbrings death مِنof الهاصرthe crushing lion الفَتّاكthe deadly slayer بِالهامto the heads
يودي مِن الهاصر الفَتّاك بِالهام
And your keen-edged sword, though ever in its scabbard,
Your angry blade forever in its sheath abides;
lays low the heads of crushing, deadly lions.
Else would it strike the ruthless with death.
فَمَنso who يَخفwould fear صَولةthe onslaught الباغيthe aggressor وَأَنتَwhile you لَهُagainst him
فَمَن يَخف صَولة الباغي وَأَنتَ لَهُ
مَعwith الإِصابةaccuracy عَنfrom قَوسthe bow of الرَدىdeath راميan archer
مَع الإِصابة عَن قَوس الرَدى رامي
So who would fear the aggressor's onslaught, when against him you
Who would risk your lion's wrath? Yours is the bow
shoot unerringly from the bow of death?
That finds its mark when arrows fly amain.
وَمَنand whoever يَكُنis بِذمامin a pledge of protection مِنكَfrom you مدّرعاًarmored
وَمَن يَكُن بِذمام مِنكَ مدّرعاً
يبدّدscatters الشَملthe gathered host فيin كرّa charge وَإِقدامand bold advance
يبدّد الشَمل في كرّ وَإِقدام
And whoever is armored in a pledge of protection from you
Who dons your harness as protection
scatters the gathered host in charge and bold advance.
Scatters the ranks in feat and headlong flight.
وَفيand in الأَمانthe safety الَّذيwhich شيدتyou built دَولتَهits dominion
وَفي الأَمان الَّذي شيدت دَولتَه
نامslept الأَنّامhumankind بِإِنجادin Najd's uplands وَإتهامand Tihamah's lowlands
نام الأَنّام بِإِنجاد وَإتهام
And in the safety whose dominion you have built,
In the peace your rule has built, nations slumber
humankind slept, in Najd's uplands and Tihamah's lowlands.
Trusting your aid, submitting to your reign.
وَللنزيلand for the guest القرىhospitality فيin خيرthe finest مملكةkingdom
وَللنزيل القرى في خير مملكة
لِصادقof one true الوَعدthe promise ماضيkeen الحَدّthe edge بسامoften smiling
لِصادق الوَعد ماضي الحَدّ بسام
And the guest finds hospitality in the finest kingdom
Happy the guest of a generous kingdom,
of one true to his promise, keen of blade and ever smiling.
True to its word and the covenant it keeps.
ياO ناشرspreader of العَدلjustice بِالعَزمwith resolve الَّذيwhich خَضعتhas bowed
يا ناشر العَدل بِالعَزم الَّذي خَضعت
لَهُto it البَريةhumankind مِنof عربArabs وَأَعجامand non-Arabs
لَهُ البَرية مِن عرب وَأَعجام
O spreader of justice through the resolve before which
Oh you who spread justice with unbending will
all humankind has bowed, Arabs and non-Arabs alike.
To which both Arab and non-Arab yield,
وَياand O نصيراًa champion لدينof the faith of اللَهGod فيamong فئةa band
وَيا نصيراً لدين اللَه في فئة
تَخشىfear بسالَتَهاits valor أَبناءُthe sons of ضرغامa fierce lion
تَخشى بسالَتَها أَبناءُ ضرغام
And O champion of God's faith among a band
Defender of God's faith against the hordes
whose valor the sons of a fierce lion fear.
Who fear the valour of Dhiraar's sons,
وَياand O مُبيدdestroyer of الألىthose who راعواterrified بسطوتهمwith their might
وَيا مُبيد الألى راعوا بسطوتهم
كَماةَarmored warriors أَنصارِthe supporters of سابورٍSabur وَبهرامand Bahram
كَماةَ أَنصارِ سابورٍ وَبهرام
And O destroyer of those who, by their might, terrified
Vanquisher of tyrants who oppressed and claimed
the armored warriors among the supporters of Sabur and Bahram.
Lands, like the lords of Persia long ago,
وَيامربيand O trainer of جُنودٍtroops فيin شجاعتهمtheir bravery
وَيامربي جُنودٍ في شجاعتهم
أَنسواmade forgotten بذكرat the mention of الوَغىbattle أَضرابَthe peers of بسطامBistam
أَنسوا بذكر الوَغى أَضرابَ بسطام
And O trainer of troops who, in their courage,
Commander of legions whose courage sings
have made Bistam's peers forgotten at the mention of battle.
Of glory, heedless of the battle's flow,
وَياand O مُشيّدbuilder of أَركانthe pillars of المَهابةawe فيin
وَيا مُشيّد أَركان المَهابة في
كُلِّevery البقاعregion بِلاwithout نَقضundoing وَإِبرامand making firm
كُلِّ البقاع بِلا نَقض وَإِبرام
And O builder of the pillars of awe in
Builder of awe's foundations in all climes
every land, without undoing and redoing.
Without reversal or the pact's demise.
وَمَنand O you لتونسكfor your Tunis الغَرّاءthe splendid قَدindeed غبطتfelt envy
وَمَن لتونسك الغَرّاء قَد غبطت
عَلىfor رفاهتهاits prosperity أَقطارُthe lands of إِسلامIslam
عَلى رفاهتها أَقطارُ إِسلام
And O you, whose splendid Tunis has been envied
Tunisia by your grace is envied for
for its prosperity by the lands of Islam.
Her prosperity by all Islamic lands.
وَمَنand O you لَكَto you الأُمةthe nation الأميّةunlettered اعترفتhas acknowledged
وَمَن لَكَ الأُمة الأميّة اعترفت
بِأَنكthat you are اِبنthe son of السراةthe nobles العادلthe just الحاميthe protector
بِأَنك اِبن السراة العادل الحامي
And O you, to whom the unlettered nation has acknowledged
The common folk confess you are the son
that you are the son of nobles, a just protector.
Of chiefs, just protector, upright guardian.
وَمَنand O you بيقظتكthrough your vigilance الأَوطانthe homelands حالفَهاhas allied itself with them
وَمَن بيقظتك الأَوطان حالفَها
دَوامُthe continuance of إِنصافِهاjustice toward them فيin فَصلthe deciding of أَحكامjudgments
دَوامُ إِنصافِها في فَصل أَحكام
And O you, through whose vigilance the homelands are allied
Your vigilance brings justice that endures
with enduring fairness in the rendering of judgments.
When you arbitrate the law's complexities.
وَمَنand O you إِذاwhen أَمّكseeks you الموتورthe bereaved victim أَنصفهdoes him justice
وَمَن إِذا أَمّك الموتور أَنصفه
مِنagainst خَصمهhis foe مشرفيٌّa Mashrafi sword مُرهفfinely honed ظاميthirsty
مِن خَصمه مشرفيٌّ مُرهف ظامي
And O you, when the bereaved seeks you, justice is done him
If you must choose between disputants, you know
against his foe by a finely honed, thirsty Mashrafi sword.
To favour justice with wisdom's piercing eye.
وَمَنand O you سمحتyou gave generously بِلاwithout سؤلa plea وَلاnor طلبa request
وَمَن سمحت بِلا سؤل وَلا طلب
لِكُلto every عَبدservant بإِحسانwith kindness وَإنعامand bounty
لِكُل عَبد بإِحسان وَإنعام
And O you who have freely bestowed, without plea or request,
Without request, you grant to every slave
kindness and bounty on every servant.
Kindness and favour generously.
وَمَنand O you لَكَfor you المُصطفىMustafa نعمexcellent is الوَزيرthe minister وَمَنand O you who
وَمَن لَكَ المُصطفى نعم الوَزير وَمَن
أَيدتهyou strengthened him بِالهدىwith guidance مِنthrough نشرunfurling أَعلامbanners
أَيدته بِالهدى مِن نشر أَعلام
And O you, for whom Mustafa is an excellent minister, and who
The Chosen One declared you the best vizier; you
have strengthened him with guidance by unfurling banners.
Guide with wisdom, spreading faith's emblems.
فَجالَso he ranged فيin حَومةthe arena of التَدبيرgovernance معتمداًrelying
فَجالَ في حَومة التَدبير معتمداً
عَلىon رَشادكyour sound guidance فيin مَحوٍerasing لِأَوهامof delusions
عَلى رَشادك في مَحوٍ لِأَوهام
Thus he ranged through the arena of governance, relying
Thus you excel in governance, relying on
on your sound guidance in dispelling delusions,
Your wisdom to dispel all doubts.
حَتّىuntil صَفاbecame clear لبنيfor the sons of الأَوطانthe homelands مَوردُهمtheir water-source
حَتّى صَفا لبني الأَوطان مَوردُهم
بحزمِهthrough his resolve وَذَكاءand intelligence الوافرabundant الناميgrowing
بحزمِه وَذَكاء الوافر النامي
until the homelands' sons found their water-source running clear,
Through prudent care, your people's streams run pure
through his resolve and abundant, ever-growing intelligence.
Thanks to your strong, ever-growing wisdom.
لَكَfor you البَشائرglad tidings فَالعيدfor the Feast الكبيرthe great أَتىhas arrived
لَكَ البَشائر فَالعيد الكبير أَتى
بِماwith what يسرّكdelights you مِنin the form of نحرٍslaughter لأخصامof foes
بِما يسرّك مِن نحرٍ لأخصام
Glad tidings are yours, for the Great Feast has arrived,
Good news! The feast day comes to glad your heart
bringing what delights you: the slaughter of foes.
With triumphs over every foe.
لاnot زلتyou cease راحتُكyour palm البَيضاءthe white تلثمهاkiss it
لا زلت راحتُك البَيضاء تلثمها
ذووpeople of السِيادةeminence فيat عيدa feast وَأَعوامand years
ذوو السِيادة في عيد وَأَعوام
May you ever have your white palm kissed
Nobles still long to kiss your hand on days
by men of eminence, at the feast and through the years.
Of feast, in years and eras without end.
وَلَمand not تَزَلcease أَلسُنُtongues العَلياglory مؤرخةًrecording the date
وَلَم تَزَل أَلسُنُ العَليا مؤرخةً
عيدa feast أَضاءshone لجودthrough the bounty of الصادقal-Sadiq الساميsublime
عيد أَضاء لجود الصادق السامي
And may the tongues of glory ever record the date:
Historians date our age from the feast that shone
"A feast shone through the sublime bounty of al-Sadiq."
With your sincerity's glorious light.
