مُذ أَنصف الدَهر وَزال الحائلُ

مُذ أَنصف الدَهر وَزال الحائلُ

وَفازَ بِالسبق اللَبيب العاقلُ

Since Time dealt justly and the barrier vanished,

Since time immemorial, and as fate fades,

And the discerning, wise man won the lead,

The wise and reasonable have won the race.

وَنجم شاهين بَدا وَإِنَّهُ

وَنجم شاهين بَدا وَإِنَّهُ

في طالع الإقبال بَدر كاملُ

في طالع الإقبال بَدر كاملُ

And Shahin's star appeared—indeed, he

The star of Shahin has risen, and he

Is a full moon in the ascendant of good fortune.

Is a full moon in the sky of glory.

وَإِن هَذا الشَهم دُون غَيره

وَإِن هَذا الشَهم دُون غَيره

بِفَضله لَيسَ لَهُ مماثل

بِفَضله لَيسَ لَهُ مماثل

And this noble man, unlike others,

This valiant one, above all others,

Has no equal in his excellence.

Is unmatched in his excellence.

وَإِنَّهُ سيهتدي بِرَأيه

وَإِنَّهُ سيهتدي بِرَأيه

مِن الجُيوش فارس وَراجل

مِن الجُيوش فارس وَراجل

And indeed, by his counsel will be guided

With his wisdom he will guide

Horseman and foot soldier among the troops.

Both cavalry and infantry.

قالَت تُهنّيه المَعالي أَرّخوا

في مصر شاهين فَريق عادل
