رِياض المَعالي في صَلاح بِلادِهِ
سَعىstrove بِنَجاحwith success فَوقَatop مَتنthe back of جِيادِهِhis steeds
سَعى بِنَجاح فَوقَ مَتن جِيادِهِ
Riyad of lofty honors, for his country's welfare,
Oasis of virtues striving for his country’s reform
Strove successfully upon the backs of his steeds.
He raced successfully atop his steed’s back
فَفازَso he triumphed بِنَيلby gaining السَبقthe lead وَاِزدادand increased in رفعةeminence
فَفازَ بِنَيل السَبق وَاِزداد رفعة
عَلىabove كُلِّeveryone مَنwho يَسموrises بِفَضلby virtue of سَدادهhis sound judgment
عَلى كُلِّ مَن يَسمو بِفَضل سَداده
So he triumphed by gaining the lead and rose in eminence,
And won the lead, excelling even more
Above all who rise by virtue of their sound judgment.
Above all those of merit and integrity
فَقُلتso I said أَهنّيI congratulate بِالتَرقيon the advancement مؤرخاًrecording the date
فَقُلت أَهنّي بِالتَرقي مؤرخاً
رِياضRiyad لِتَوفيقfor Tawfiq وَزيرminister ودادهhis affection
رِياض لِتَوفيق وَزير وداده
So I said, congratulating him on his advancement and recording the date:
