يا مُفرد العَصر في حُسنٍ وَإِحسانِ

يا مُفرد العَصر في حُسنٍ وَإِحسانِ

وَواحد الدَهر في لُطف وَإمعانِ

وَواحد الدَهر في لُطف وَإمعانِ

O peerless one of the age in beauty and benevolence,

O unmatched in beauty and kindness in this era,

And unrivaled through time in gentleness and attentiveness.

And peerless in gentleness and care through time,

صل مغرماً ما صبا إِلا إِلَيك وَلا

صل مغرماً ما صبا إِلا إِلَيك وَلا

هامَ الحَشا قَبلَ ذا مِنهُ بِإِنسان

هامَ الحَشا قَبلَ ذا مِنهُ بِإِنسان

Grant union to a lovesick man who has yearned only for you, and never

Have mercy on a lover whose passion was only for you,

Before this has his heart been enamored of anyone.

No human was so smitten before this one.

وَكُن حَنوناً عَلى صَبٍّ بِهِ فتكت

وَكُن حَنوناً عَلى صَبٍّ بِهِ فتكت

صَوارمُ اللَحظ في مضمار هجران

صَوارمُ اللَحظ في مضمار هجران

And be tender to a lovesick man, slain

Be kind to one struck by your glances' swords,

By the keen swords of your glance on the racecourse of estrangement.

In the battleground of estrangement and despair.

فَأَنتَ يا طَيِّبَ الأَنفاس يا أَملي

فَأَنتَ يا طَيِّبَ الأَنفاس يا أَملي

لا زلت تجبر كسر اللائذ العاني

لا زلت تجبر كسر اللائذ العاني

So you, O sweet-breathed one, O my hope—

You, sweet breathed hope of mine,

May you never cease to mend the brokenness of the captive who seeks refuge.

Still mend the broken-hearted seeker's despair.
