    نجازُها تَقتضيه مِنكَ أَحوالُ

    O hope of the realm, the homelands have aspirations;

their fulfillment is demanded of you by circumstances.

    ذلَّت لِعزَّته في الحَرب أَبطال

    The mention of Ibrahim, the best of fathers, has gladdened them;

heroes were humbled before his might in war.

How much glory and noble merit his illustrious deeds contain—

no sovereigns before him in the world could count them.

So you are the greatest leader; excellent indeed are your

words and deeds in forbidding and commanding.

And this, your radiant Egypt, has rejoiced

at her elevation, overspread by your bounty.

And now her folded banners have unfurled,

their forms upon the crown of Gemini.

And how could she not, when she has gained honor and delights in

your congratulations, while humiliation has left her?

And the state's pillars have risen and soared,

and honor from you has shone upon it at once.

And it has risen through you, and its beauties have increased:

on the day of investiture—monuments and ruins.

So rise to a lofty seat, to which you have been called by

merit through which examples have been set for humankind.

And justice grew up with you in the cradle, and was acknowledged

by kings and officials as a mark of your exalted rank.

And you are a fine champion, the champion's son, and one

    whose resolve drove terrors away from Egypt;

and one on whom the subjects relied, and gone

from their hearts through him were dread and fears.

And the realm, faith, and civilization—you, for whatever

exalts them, O man of deep-rooted glory, are a man of action.

So accept a bondsman's gift; his praises,

O peerless one of the age, embody the truth.

So you are most worthy of a charge none can fulfill

except you, a lion in these homelands.

May you ever rejoice in them at what you have been granted,

and may lion cubs of your line strengthen them with victory.

Or the lofty honors therein spoke, marking the date:

For Egypt, through the lion Ismail, comes good fortune.
