أَخلاء طُول العُمر لا تَتلذذوا

أَخلاء طُول العُمر لا تَتلذذوا

إِلّا بخدمة أَهلِها وَبِلادها

إِلّا بخدمة أَهلِها وَبِلادها

O friends, throughout life, take no delight

Friends, lifetime long, delight not ye

Except in serving her people and her country.

Save in serving one's kin and country

تَلقى لَها بَين العِباد مَودّة

تَلقى لَها بَين العِباد مَودّة

بِمحبة مَخلوقة في ذاتِها

بِمحبة مَخلوقة في ذاتِها

You find affection for her among people,

For it love ye'll find, midst humanity

Through love created within her very being.

With affection innate, divinely

تعطي محبيها جَميع نَوالها

تعطي محبيها جَميع نَوالها

وَالعَذل مَوجود بِكُل فعالها

وَالعَذل مَوجود بِكُل فعالها

She gives those who love her all her bounty,

To its lovers all bounty it grants

And reproach is present in all her deeds.

Evil absent in all its acts

بِاللَيل تَشتغل وَتَزداد مَتى

بِاللَيل تَشتغل وَتَزداد مَتى

بانَت لَها شَمسُ النَهار بِنورها

بانَت لَها شَمسُ النَهار بِنورها

At night she works, and grows whenever

Through the night it works and more when

The daytime sun appears to her with its light.

Rises sun with light and splendour

تِلكَ الأخلة في الحَياة وَمَن لَهُ

تِلكَ الأخلة في الحَياة وَمَن لَهُ

علمٌ فَيظهر لِلوَرى أَسماءَها

علمٌ فَيظهر لِلوَرى أَسماءَها

Those are life's companions; and whoever has

Such true friends in life, and who knows

Knowledge, let him reveal their names to humankind,

Makes known their names for all to behold

حَتّى يَفوز بِشكره بَينَ الوَرى

حَتّى يَفوز بِشكره بَينَ الوَرى

وَنَراه فيها شاكِراً إِحسانَها

وَنَراه فيها شاكِراً إِحسانَها

So that he may succeed through his gratitude among humankind,

That thanks amongst all he may reap

And we see him therein, thankful for her kindness.

As we see him, thankful for its care
