بِأنس سَعيدِ أَبي التَمجيدِ

بِأنس سَعيدِ أَبي التَمجيدِ

أَخي التَأييدِ طَيب الأَنفاسْ

أَخي التَأييدِ طَيب الأَنفاسْ

In the company of Saʿid, father of glorification,

With the comfort of Sa'id, my father of glory

Brother of support, sweet of breath,

My brother of support, of sweet breath

صَفا الأَرواحِ في الأَفراحِ

صَفا الأَرواحِ في الأَفراحِ

برشفِ الراحِ مِن المياسْ

برشفِ الراحِ مِن المياسْ

Souls grew serene amid rejoicing,

Of pure spirits in times of joy

Through sips of wine from the gracefully swaying one.

With the drinking of ease, not excess

فَمنه العَدلْ كَساه العَقلْ

فَمنه العَدلْ كَساه العَقلْ

ثِياب الفَضلْ خَير لِباس

ثِياب الفَضلْ خَير لِباس

So from him comes justice; reason has clothed him

From him is justice, reason is clothed

In garments of virtue, the finest attire.

In robes of merit, the best attire

وَمِنهُ الحلمْ حَليف الحكمْ

وَمِنهُ الحلمْ حَليف الحكمْ

حَباه العلمْ ذكاء إِياسْ

حَباه العلمْ ذكاء إِياسْ

And from him comes forbearance, the ally of judgment;

From him is clemency, ally of wisdom

Knowledge endowed him with the intelligence of Iyas.

Endowed with knowledge, brilliance of inspiration

فيا خَيّالْ خذ الأَبطالْ

فيا خَيّالْ خذ الأَبطالْ

مَع الأَقيالْ في الأَغلاس

مَع الأَقيالْ في الأَغلاس

So, cavalryman, take the champions

So take the brave, O imagination

With the chieftains in the predawn darkness.

With the valiant, into captivity

وَيا أَوجي صَد اليولجي

وَيا أَوجي صَد اليولجي

إِذا الطوبجي رَمى المتراسْ

إِذا الطوبجي رَمى المتراسْ

And, rifleman, turn back the traveler

And O warrior, block the fearless

When the gunner fires at the barricade.

When arrows strike shields

فَزرخ الحَربْ حماة الركبْ

فَزرخ الحَربْ حماة الركبْ

أَزالوا الكربْ عَن الحرّاسْ

أَزالوا الكربْ عَن الحرّاسْ

So war's armored forces, guardians of the convoy,

Thus War cried out, protectors of the caravan

Have lifted distress from the guards.

They removed distress, from the guards

كَذا القرّابْ رَمى الطلابْ

كَذا القرّابْ رَمى الطلابْ

بِنار عَذابْ ذكت في الراسْ

بِنار عَذابْ ذكت في الراسْ

Likewise, the carbine fired at the pursuers

Thus the archers, shot arrows

With a fire of torment that blazed in the head.

With punishing fire, igniting foreheads

كَذا الكوبري على النَهرِ

كَذا الكوبري على النَهرِ

بِهِ نَسري بِلا وسواس

بِهِ نَسري بِلا وسواس

Likewise, the bridge over the river:

Thus the bridge, over the river

On it we journey by night without misgivings.

With it we flow, without anxiety

وفي القَلعهْ أَحسن الصَنعهْ

وفي القَلعهْ أَحسن الصَنعهْ

صاحب الرفعهْ عِندَ وَضع أَساسْ

صاحب الرفعهْ عِندَ وَضع أَساسْ

And in the citadel, the work was finely done

And in the fortress, the best construction

By the exalted lord, when laying a foundation.

The eminent man, when laying foundations

وَفي ميلادْ أَبى الإِسعادْ

وَفي ميلادْ أَبى الإِسعادْ

أَتى القصادْ للاستئناسْ

أَتى القصادْ للاستئناسْ

And on the birthday of the father of gladness,

And in the birth, of my father of bliss

The visitors came to enjoy companionship.

Came fate, for good omens

فكل قالْ بِصَوت عالْ

فكل قالْ بِصَوت عالْ

لَهُ الإقبالْ سَعيد الناسْ

لَهُ الإقبالْ سَعيد الناسْ

So each said in a loud voice:

So all spoke, in loud voice

Good fortune is his—Saʿid, fortunate among men!

For him is prosperity, people's joy

سَعيد العَزمِ مَجيد الحَزمِ

سَعيد العَزمِ مَجيد الحَزمِ

مزيل الوَهمِ عن الجلاسْ

مزيل الوَهمِ عن الجلاسْ

Fortunate in resolve, glorious in firmness,

Prosperous is his resolve, glorious his wisdom

Dispelling doubt from those gathered;

Dispelling doubts, from advisors

سَعيد الجُندْ أَثيل المَجدِ

سَعيد الجُندْ أَثيل المَجدِ

خَليل السَعدِ مَع الإِيناسْ

خَليل السَعدِ مَع الإِيناسْ

Fortunate in his troops, deep-rooted in glory,

Prosperous his soldiers, fragrant his glory

A close friend of good fortune, in cheerful company.

Beloved of fortune, with inspiration

أَدام اللَهْ لِمَصر بَقاهْ

أَدام اللَهْ لِمَصر بَقاهْ

فَنِيل نَداهْ بِلا مِقياس

فَنِيل نَداهْ بِلا مِقياس

May God prolong his life for Egypt,

May God eternalize for Egypt his survival

For the Nile of his bounty is beyond measure.

So the Nile's bounty is without limit
