بَكيت عَلى بَحرٍ بكاء ابن أَمّه

عَلَيهِ وَزادَت بي شُجوني وَأَسقامي

I wept for Bahr as his brother would weep

I wept at a sea, weeping like a mother's son

for him, and my sorrows and ailments grew.
