أَرىI see فلكاًa celestial sphere فيin رَوضةRawda (garden) النيلthe Nile زادَهاenhanced it
أَرى فلكاً في رَوضة النيل زادَها
بَهاءsplendor وَحلّىand adorned بِالعُقودwith necklaces جِيادهاits necks
بَهاء وَحلّى بِالعُقود جِيادها
I see a celestial sphere in the Nile’s Rawda that has increased its
I see a sky in the Nile's meadow, its
splendor and adorned its necks with necklaces,
Beauty increased, its necklaces adorned its steeds.
وَغضّand averted its gaze عَنfrom الشَمسthe sun ازدراءin scorn بنورهاof its light
وَغضّ عَن الشَمس ازدراء بنورها
وَأَطلَعand brought forth بَدراًa full moon قَدindeed أَنارilluminated مهادهاits resting place
وَأَطلَع بَدراً قَد أَنار مهادها
and turned away from the sun, scorning its light,
It scowled at the sun disdainfully, spurning its light,
and brought forth a full moon that illuminated its resting place.
And raised a moon that illuminated its resting place.
فَقُلتso I said وَقَدand already تَمwas completed البناءthe building مؤرخاًrecording the date
فَقُلت وَقَد تَم البناء مؤرخاً
سرايةpalace إسماعيلIsmail بِالمَجدin glory شادَهاhe built it
سراية إسماعيل بِالمَجد شادَها
So I said, with the building complete, recording its date:
I said, when the building was complete with glory chronicled:
“Ismail’s palace—he built it in glory.”
