وَلَقَدand indeed غَنيتُI was content بِطيبwith the fragrance of تُربةِthe soil of طَيبةٍTayba
وَلَقَد غَنيتُ بِطيب تُربةِ طَيبةٍ
عَنwithout need of كُلevery مَغنىًabode فيهِin it جمa multitude of غَوانيlovely women
عَن كُل مَغنىً فيهِ جم غَواني
Indeed, the sweetness of Ṭaybah’s soil has made me need no
And indeed, I am content with the fragrance of Tayba’s soil,
dwelling where beautiful women abound.
Needing no abode where lovely women abound.
وَتعوّذتand sought refuge نَفسيmy soul بِماin that which أمنتit found safety بِهِthrough it
وَتعوّذت نَفسي بِما أمنت بِهِ
مِنfrom شَرthe evil of داعٍa caller لِلضَلالto error غَوانيwho led me astray
مِن شَر داعٍ لِلضَلال غَواني
And my soul sought refuge in what I believed in,
And my soul sought refuge in that through which it found safety,
from the evil of a caller to error who led me astray.
From the evil of a caller to error who led me astray.
