Every tender bough in the garden was enraptured,

    Bending toward the awe-inspiring prince.

And the breeze of joy breathed new life—when

It blew in the hour of serenity—into every heart.

And toward your radiant full moon pointed

The sun of your eminence, with henna-dyed fingertips.

So take joy in what you are worthy of,

O namesake of al-Karrar, the lion of wars.

And so your nights were lit with joy

By their bright stars, and every watcher feared you.

And glory said to me: Mark your joy with a chronogram:

Through you, O Dhu al-Fiqar, comes the beloved's glory.
