عَلى الصَدر مَنصورٍ كَما عمّر الدَهرُ
Even if I lived on in gratitude and praise
Even if I lived a lifetime thanking and praising
Of the dignitary Mansur, as long as Time has lived,
Al-Sadr as long the ages have endured,
وَجئتand I brought بِماwith what لَمdid not يَأتِbring قَبليbefore me بمثلهwith its like

لَعلياه مِن مَدح بِهِ يَزدَهي العَصر
And offered what none before me had equaled
And came up with unprecedented eulogies,
In praise of his eminence, in which the age glories,
Hoping to exalt his glory in this age,
لَقصرتI would fall short عَنof إِحصاءcounting أَدنىthe least مَناقبvirtues

I would fall short of counting even the least of his virtues—
I would still fall short enumerating the least
From which victory was derived while he was still in his cradle.
Of his virtues, for triumph itself was suckled at his breast.
