بَلغتَ المُنى في ظل أَكرَم دَولةٍ

بَلغتَ المُنى في ظل أَكرَم دَولةٍ

شَريف بِها في الحكم أَعدل مِن سلكْ

شَريف بِها في الحكم أَعدل مِن سلكْ

You attained your wishes in the shade of the most generous state,

Where Sharif is the justest ever to tread the path of rule.

وَبِالنُصح وَالإِخلاص في كُل خدمة

وَبِالنُصح وَالإِخلاص في كُل خدمة

بَدا نجمك المَسعود في قبة الفلك

بَدا نجمك المَسعود في قبة الفلك

And through sincere counsel and devotion in every service,

Your fortunate star appeared in the vault of heaven.

وَنلتَ مِن العَلياء ما أَنتَ طالب

وَنلتَ مِن العَلياء ما أَنتَ طالب

وَربك بِالتَمييز في الحال فَضَّلك

وَربك بِالتَمييز في الحال فَضَّلك

And you gained the eminence you seek,

And your Lord at once favored you with distinction.

وَفي رَجبٍ أَحرزت أَرفع رُتبةٍ

وَفي رَجبٍ أَحرزت أَرفع رُتبةٍ

بِها الحاسد المَخفوض مِما بِهِ هلك

بِها الحاسد المَخفوض مِما بِهِ هلك

And in Rajab you attained the highest rank,

At which the humbled envier perished of what ailed him.

فَأَنشَد مَجدي في التَهاني مؤرِّخاً

فَأَنشَد مَجدي في التَهاني مؤرِّخاً

لِثانيةٍ في مَصر بُطرسُ قَد ملك

لِثانيةٍ في مَصر بُطرسُ قَد ملك

So Majdi recited in congratulation, composing a chronogram:

Butrus has indeed gained the second rank in Egypt.
