قَوَّىstrengthened سعيدُSa‘id العصرthe age فيin المناورهْthe maneuver
قَوَّى سعيدُ العصر في المناورهْ
عَلىfor الوَغىbattle بعزمهthrough his resolve عساكرَهْhis troops
عَلى الوَغى بعزمه عساكرَهْ
In the maneuver, Sa‘id of the age strengthened
his troops for battle through his resolve.
فَأَصبَحَتso became عَساكرarmies الأَكاسرهْthe Khosrows
فَأَصبَحَت عَساكر الأَكاسرهْ
مِنfrom دُونa lower rank than هاتيكthose الأُسودthe lions الكاسرهْfierce
مِن دُون هاتيك الأُسود الكاسرهْ
So the armies of the Khosrows became
inferior to those fierce lions
فيin حسنexcellence of تَنظيمorganization وَفيand in إِقدامِboldness
في حسن تَنظيم وَفي إِقدامِ
فياand oh! لَهُto him مِنas a ملكking سَعيدِfortunate
فيا لَهُ مِن ملك سَعيدِ
in fine organization and in boldness.
And oh, what a fortunate king he is!
يسوسهمhe leads them برأيهwith his judgment السَديدِsound
يسوسهم برأيه السَديدِ
وَيلتقيand he confronts ببأسهwith his might الشَديدِfierce
وَيلتقي ببأسه الشَديدِ
He leads them with his sound judgment,
and with his fierce might confronts
فيهمin their midst جُنودَthe troops of معتدٍan aggressor عَنيدِstubborn
فيهم جُنودَ معتدٍ عَنيدِ
منكسlowering الراياتthe banners وَالأعلامِand the standards
منكس الرايات وَالأعلامِ
in their midst the troops of a stubborn aggressor,
lowering their banners and standards.
لاmay ... not زالcease هذاthis الداوريْthe sovereign فيin مصرِEgypt
لا زال هذا الداوريْ في مصرِ
يُوميsignals لهُto him إقبالُهhis good fortune بِالنصرِwith victory
يُومي لهُ إقبالُه بِالنصرِ
May this sovereign ever remain in Egypt,
his good fortune signaling victory to him.
فَإِنَّهُfor indeed he is إِنسانُthe pupil of عينthe eye of الدَهرِTime
فَإِنَّهُ إِنسانُ عين الدَهرِ
وَعَصرهand his age بِالعَدلthrough justice أَسنىthe most radiant عَصرِage
وَعَصره بِالعَدل أَسنى عَصرِ
For he is the pupil of Time’s eye,
and his age, through justice, is the most radiant age.
بِهِin him تَباهَتhas taken pride ملةُthe faith of الإِسلامِIslam
بِهِ تَباهَت ملةُ الإِسلامِ
In him the faith of Islam has gloried.
