Did the sun's radiance shine before the eyes,
The sun's radiance shone for all eyes to see
or else did the full moons of the horizon grow brighter?
And as it traversed the horizon, its light grew more pure

إِلى الأَرض فَاِشتاقَت إِلَيها سَماؤُها
Or did the stars of the highest celestial sphere fall
Have the lofty spheres let their stars fall
to earth, so their heaven yearned for them?
That the heavens longed for the earth with love so demure
