لَكَ البُشرى بِمَولود سَعيدٍ

لَكَ البُشرى بِمَولود سَعيدٍ

بَدا لِلناظرين بِمصر بَدرا

بَدا لِلناظرين بِمصر بَدرا

Glad tidings to you of a fortunate newborn,

Who appeared to beholders in Egypt as a full moon.

بِهِ نلت الهَنا وَسَمَوت عزاً

بِهِ نلت الهَنا وَسَمَوت عزاً

وَزدت بِهِ عَلى الأقيال قَدرا

وَزدت بِهِ عَلى الأقيال قَدرا

Through him you attained joy and rose in honor,

And through him you rose above princes in rank.

وَسالم دَهرنا وبه حبانا

وَسالم دَهرنا وبه حبانا

وَكانَ مَثيلُه في العصر نَزرا

وَكانَ مَثيلُه في العصر نَزرا

Our age has made peace with us and blessed us with him,

And his like has been rare in this age.

هُوَ البَدر المُنير زَها فَخاراً

هُوَ البَدر المُنير زَها فَخاراً

فَأَضحى لَيلُنا بِسَناه فَجرا

فَأَضحى لَيلُنا بِسَناه فَجرا

He is the radiant full moon, resplendent in glory;

So our night became dawn through his radiance.

هُوَ الدر الثَمين وَأَنتَ بَحر

هُوَ الدر الثَمين وَأَنتَ بَحر

كَذاك البَحر يَقذف صاحِ درّا

كَذاك البَحر يَقذف صاحِ درّا

He is the precious pearl, and you are a sea;

Just so the sea casts forth pearls, my friend.

سَيَرقى شأَوك الأَسمى وَيَحوي

سَيَرقى شأَوك الأَسمى وَيَحوي

مَآثرَ جدِّه وَيشيع ذِكرا

مَآثرَ جدِّه وَيشيع ذِكرا

He will rise to your loftiest rank and possess

His grandfather’s noble qualities, and become widely renowned.

وَيَسمو ما سَما في الأُفق نجمٌ

وَيَسمو ما سَما في الأُفق نجمٌ

وَما علقت دَراري البَحر نَحرا

وَما علقت دَراري البَحر نَحرا

And he will rise as long as a star rises on the horizon,

And as long as the sea’s lustrous pearls adorn a neck.

فَلا زالَ الزَمان يَقول أَرخ

فَلا زالَ الزَمان يَقول أَرخ

وَلادة مُصطَفى يُمنٌ وَبُشرى

وَلادة مُصطَفى يُمنٌ وَبُشرى

So may Time never cease to say: Record the date—

Mustafa’s birth is good fortune and glad tidings.
