جَدير بِأَنواع الثَناء مَع الشُكرِ

جَدير بِأَنواع الثَناء مَع الشُكرِ

أَمير مَساعيه إِلى الخَير وَالبرِ

أَمير مَساعيه إِلى الخَير وَالبرِ

Worthy of every kind of praise, together with thanks—

Worthy of all manner of praise, along with thanks,

an emir whose endeavors aim at goodness and righteousness.

Is an emir whose endeavors seek goodness and righteousness.

سَعى وَهو مَسعود فَعادَ مؤيداً

سَعى وَهو مَسعود فَعادَ مؤيداً

وَتوّجه الرَحمن بِالظفر وَالنَصر

وَتوّجه الرَحمن بِالظفر وَالنَصر

He strove while blessed with good fortune, and returned with aid;

He strove, favored by fortune, and returned strengthened,

the All-Merciful crowned him with pardon and victory.

And the Most Merciful crowned him with triumph and victory.

وَلاحَ بِأُفق السَعد في مَصر نجمُه

وَلاحَ بِأُفق السَعد في مَصر نجمُه

فَأَربى سَناه في الأَنام عَلى البَدر

فَأَربى سَناه في الأَنام عَلى البَدر

His star rose on fortune’s horizon in Egypt,

And his star shone on the horizon of good fortune in Egypt,

and among humankind its radiance surpassed the full moon.

Its radiance surpassing the full moon among humankind.

وَهاداه ذو ودّ بِأَنفس حرفة

وَهاداه ذو ودّ بِأَنفس حرفة

فَأَبدَع ما يَزهو مِن البيض وَالسُمر

فَأَبدَع ما يَزهو مِن البيض وَالسُمر

A loving friend exchanged gifts with him in the finest craft,

And a well-wisher gifted him the most precious craft,

creating superbly what gleams proudly among white swords and tawny lances.

So he masterfully fashioned splendid white swords and brown lances.

وَأَوصى سليمان لَهُ بِلقائه

وَأَوصى سليمان لَهُ بِلقائه

فَأَصبَح فينا أَوحَد الوَقت وَالعَصر

فَأَصبَح فينا أَوحَد الوَقت وَالعَصر

Solomon, upon meeting him, spoke highly of him,

And Sulayman recommended, on his behalf, a meeting with him,

and thus among us he became the peerless man of his time and age.

So he became among us the peerless one of his time and age.

فَيا مَن حَوى علماً نَقياً وَحكمة

فَيا مَن حَوى علماً نَقياً وَحكمة

وَفَضلاً بِهِ فاقَ البَرية في مَصر

وَفَضلاً بِهِ فاقَ البَرية في مَصر

O you who encompass pure knowledge and wisdom,

So, O you who have gathered pure knowledge and wisdom,

and excellence by which you surpassed all humankind in Egypt;

And excellence through which you surpassed humankind in Egypt;

وَيا مَن سَما فينا بِحُسن فراسة

وَيا مَن سَما فينا بِحُسن فراسة

وَرَأيٍ عَلا فَوق السَماكين وَالنسر

وَرَأيٍ عَلا فَوق السَماكين وَالنسر

O you who rose among us through keen discernment,

And O you who rose among us through keen discernment,

and judgment that soared above the two Simāks and the Eagle;

And judgment that rose above the two Simak stars and the Eagle;

وَيا مَن غَدَت مَصر تتيه بفنِّه

وَيا مَن غَدَت مَصر تتيه بفنِّه

عَلى سائر البُلدان في البَر وَالبَحر

عَلى سائر البُلدان في البَر وَالبَحر

O you through whose art Egypt came to take pride

And O you whose art has made Egypt boast

above all other lands, on land and sea;

Over all other countries, on land and sea;

وَيا عالَماً في واحد قَد بَدا لَنا

وَيا عالَماً في واحد قَد بَدا لَنا

وَيا صاحب المَعروف وَالنهي وَالأَمر

وَيا صاحب المَعروف وَالنهي وَالأَمر

O whole world within a single man, now revealed to us;

And O world that has appeared to us in a single man,

O master of beneficence, prohibition, and command;

And O master of benevolence, of prohibition and command;

وَيا مَركز العرفان يا مَن تشرفت

وَيا مَركز العرفان يا مَن تشرفت

بِهِ رتب الإقبال وَالعز وَالفَخر

بِهِ رتب الإقبال وَالعز وَالفَخر

O center of knowledge—O you through whom

And O center of knowledge, O you who have ennobled

the ranks of prosperity, honor, and glory were ennobled;

The ranks of good fortune, might, and pride;

وَيا قطب دائرة الادارة وَالذَكا

وَيا قطب دائرة الادارة وَالذَكا

وَيا كَعبة الطلاب يا طَيب الذكر

وَيا كَعبة الطلاب يا طَيب الذكر

O axis of the sphere of governance and intelligence;

And O axis of the circle of administration and intelligence,

O Kaaba of seekers, O you of fragrant renown;

And O Kaaba of seekers, O you of sweet renown;

وَيا دَوحة المَجد المؤثل وَالندى

وَيا دَوحة المَجد المؤثل وَالندى

وَيا خَير مَن وافى وَأَنعَم بِالبشر

وَيا خَير مَن وافى وَأَنعَم بِالبشر

O great tree of deep-rooted glory and generosity;

And O spreading tree of deep-rooted glory and generosity,

O best of all who came and graciously brought good cheer:

And O best of those who came and bestowed good cheer;

تَهنأ بِما أُوليتَ مِن مَنصب حَوى

تَهنأ بِما أُوليتَ مِن مَنصب حَوى

بِفَضلك ما يَرجو مِن الجاه وَالقَدر

بِفَضلك ما يَرجو مِن الجاه وَالقَدر

Rejoice in the office you have been granted, which encompasses,

Rejoice in the office bestowed upon you, which has attained

through your merit, all that is hoped for of prestige and rank.

Through your excellence the prestige and esteem it seeks.

فَلا زالَ بَينَ الناس حَظك وافِراً

فَلا زالَ بَينَ الناس حَظك وافِراً

وَنجمك يَزهو في السَماء عَن الزُهر

وَنجمك يَزهو في السَماء عَن الزُهر

May your fortune among the people remain forever abundant,

So may your fortune among the people ever remain abundant,

and your star gleam in heaven above the radiant stars.

And your star shine in the sky beyond the radiant stars.

وَلا زلت مَشكور المَساعي موفقاً

وَلا زلت مَشكور المَساعي موفقاً

إِلى الخَير وَالرَأي السَديد إِلى الحَشر

إِلى الخَير وَالرَأي السَديد إِلى الحَشر

May you ever remain praised for your endeavors and granted success

And may you ever remain praised for your endeavors and guided

in goodness and sound judgment, until the Resurrection.
