إِذا ما الدَهر حرّك لي شُجوناً

إِذا ما الدَهر حرّك لي شُجوناً

وَأَرسَل في الوَرى خَلفي عُيونا

وَأَرسَل في الوَرى خَلفي عُيونا

Whenever Time stirs sorrows within me

and sends spies after me among humankind,

وَعانَدني وَجار وَكان عَهدي

وَعانَدني وَجار وَكان عَهدي

إِذا سالَمتُهُ أَن لا يَخونا

إِذا سالَمتُهُ أَن لا يَخونا

and opposes and wrongs me—though I had expected

that, if I made peace with it, it would not betray—

فَلا أَخشاهُ في بَلد أَمين

فَلا أَخشاهُ في بَلد أَمين

وَلي ثِقةٌ بِزين العابدينا

وَلي ثِقةٌ بِزين العابدينا

I do not fear it in a safe city,

and I place my trust in Zayn al-Abidin:

إمام فاضل حبر لَبيب

إمام فاضل حبر لَبيب

تَناسل طاهِراً مِن طاهِرينا

تَناسل طاهِراً مِن طاهِرينا

a virtuous imam, a discerning scholar,

descended pure from pure forebears.

لَهُ في الخَير لا تُحصى المَساعي

لَهُ في الخَير لا تُحصى المَساعي

لِوَجه اللَه رَب العالَمينا

لِوَجه اللَه رَب العالَمينا

His efforts in doing good are beyond counting,

for the sake of God, Lord of the worlds.

فَلا انفكَّ الزَمانُ لَهُ مُطيعاً

فَلا انفكَّ الزَمانُ لَهُ مُطيعاً

سَميعاً خاضِعاً عَبداً أَمينا

سَميعاً خاضِعاً عَبداً أَمينا

So may Time never cease to obey him,

attentive, submissive, a faithful servant.

وَلا بَرحت تُناديهِ الأَماني

وَلا بَرحت تُناديهِ الأَماني

بِلَبَّيك مَدى الأَيام فينا

بِلَبَّيك مَدى الأَيام فينا

And may wishes never cease calling to him,

“At your service!” in our midst, as long as days endure.

بجاه المُصطَفى خَير البَرايا

بجاه المُصطَفى خَير البَرايا

محمدنا ختام المُرسَلينا

محمدنا ختام المُرسَلينا

By the rank of the Chosen One, best of creation,

our Muhammad, the seal of the messengers,

وَآلٍ ثُمَ أَزواجٍ وَصَحبٍ

وَآلٍ ثُمَ أَزواجٍ وَصَحبٍ

وَأَحزاب كِرام مُخلِصينا

وَأَحزاب كِرام مُخلِصينا

and his family, then his wives and companions,

and noble, sincere followers.
