تَهاني سَعيد العَصر في مَصر لَم تَزَل

يَجدّدها الإَقبال بَينَ عَبيدِهِ

يَجدّدها الإَقبال بَينَ عَبيدِهِ

Congratulations to Saʿid of the age in Egypt have never ceased;

Happy celebrations, auspicious era in Egypt, it remains

Good fortune renews them among his servants.

Renewed by prosperity among its worshippers

وَشَوّال فيهِ الآن عيدانِ واحدٌ

وَشَوّال فيهِ الآن عيدانِ واحدٌ

صَغير وَعيد الملك أَكبرُ عيده

صَغير وَعيد الملك أَكبرُ عيده

And Shawwal now holds two feasts: one

And Shawwal has two feasts this time, one small

Is small, while the feast of kingship is its greater feast.

And the feast of the king, his greatest feast

وَقَد صارَ هَذا الشَهر لِلدَهر غُرةً

وَقَد صارَ هَذا الشَهر لِلدَهر غُرةً

بِصحة مَأمون الوَرى وَرَشيده

بِصحة مَأمون الوَرى وَرَشيده

And this month has indeed become a bright mark on time’s brow,

And this month has become the first of all time

Through the health of mankind’s trusted and rightly guided one.

With the health of Ma'mun, guardian of the world and its guide

وَزادَ عَلى كُل الشُهور اِمتِيازه

وَزادَ عَلى كُل الشُهور اِمتِيازه

بِطارفه في مَصره وَتَليده

بِطارفه في مَصره وَتَليده

And its distinction has surpassed that of every other month,

And excelled over all other months

Through his newly acquired and inherited honors in his Egypt.

With its new moon in its Egypt and tradition

فلا زالَ هَذا العيد يَسمو وَيَزدَهي

فلا زالَ هَذا العيد يَسمو وَيَزدَهي

بِحفظ مَعاليهِ وَحفظ وَليده

بِحفظ مَعاليهِ وَحفظ وَليده

So may this feast ever rise high and shine with pride,

So this feast continues to rise and prosper

With His Excellency and his child kept safe.

With protecting his excellencies and protecting his heir

وَلا زالَ فيهِ المَجد يُبدي مؤرخاً

وَلا زالَ فيهِ المَجد يُبدي مؤرخاً

مسرّة شَوّال بملك سَعيده

مسرّة شَوّال بملك سَعيده

And may glory ever proclaim within it, marking the date:

And glory continues to show in it, dating

“Shawwal’s joy under the rule of its Saʿid.”
