أَأَحمدُ رَبَّ المَجدِ يا اِبنَ الأَكابرِ

أَأَحمدُ رَبَّ المَجدِ يا اِبنَ الأَكابرِ

تَهنأ بِنجل صادق الأَصل فاخرِ

تَهنأ بِنجل صادق الأَصل فاخرِ

O Ahmad, lord of glory, O son of noble forebears!

O Ahmad, lord of glory, O son of the great,

Rejoice in a son of true lineage, illustrious—

May you rejoice in an illustrious son of true lineage,

كَريمٍ بَدا في مَصر مِنكَ بِطَلعة

كَريمٍ بَدا في مَصر مِنكَ بِطَلعة

سَنا بَرقِها أَربى عَلى كُل زاهر

سَنا بَرقِها أَربى عَلى كُل زاهر

a noble child of your line has appeared in Egypt, with a countenance

Noble, he appeared in Egypt, sprung from you, with a countenance

whose lightning-bright radiance surpasses every shining thing.

Whose lightning's radiance outshone every shining thing.

فَأَكرِم بِمَولود وَأَكرِم بِوالد

فَأَكرِم بِمَولود وَأَكرِم بِوالد

شَريف وَفيِّ الوَعد مِن نسل طاهر

شَريف وَفيِّ الوَعد مِن نسل طاهر

How noble his birth, and how noble his father—

How noble the newborn, and how noble the father,

highborn, true to his word, descended from Ṭāhir.

Noble, faithful to his promise, of pure lineage.

فَلا زلت يا اِبن الأَكرَمين مؤيداً

فَلا زلت يا اِبن الأَكرَمين مؤيداً

بِهِ إِذ غَدا سَيفاً نَفيس الجَواهر

بِهِ إِذ غَدا سَيفاً نَفيس الجَواهر

May you ever remain, O son of the noblest, strengthened

So may you ever remain, O son of the noblest, strengthened

by him, now that he has become a sword set with precious jewels.

By him, for he has become a sword with precious jewels.

وَلَما أَتى بِالسَعد قُلت مُؤَرِخاً

وَلَما أَتى بِالسَعد قُلت مُؤَرِخاً

أَتى حسنٌ كَالشَمس أُمِّ الزَواهر

أَتى حسنٌ كَالشَمس أُمِّ الزَواهر

And when he came bringing good fortune, I spoke his date in a chronogram:

And when he came with good fortune, I said, recording the date:

“Ḥasan has come, like the sun, mother of all radiant things.”

Hasan has come like the sun, mother of the shining stars.
