بِسَيفكby your sword يُتلىis recited فيin المَصاحفthe Qur’an copies قُرآنُthe Qur’an
بِسَيفك يُتلى في المَصاحف قُرآنُ
وَيُثنيand praises عَلىupon علياكyour eminence قسٌّQuss وَسحبانُand Sahban
وَيُثني عَلى علياك قسٌّ وَسحبانُ
By your sword, the Qur’an is recited from its copies.
With your sword the Quran is recited in the scriptures
And Quss and Sahban extol your eminence.
And Quss and Suhban praise Ali
وَقدand indeed دلتhave shown الآياتthe signs أَنكthat you are دائِماًalways
وَقد دلت الآيات أَنك دائِماً
لِعَينfor the eye ذَواتnotables الدَهرthe age فيin مصرEgypt إِنسانpupil of the eye
لِعَين ذَوات الدَهر في مصر إِنسان
And the signs have shown that you are always
The verses have shown that you are always
The pupil of the eye of the age’s notables in Egypt.
For the eyes of the people of this world a human in Egypt
وَأَنتَand you الَّذيthe one whom فيin كُلevery وَقتtime وَساعةand hour
وَأَنتَ الَّذي في كُل وَقت وَساعة
يُشيرpoints لَهُto him بِالامتيازas distinguished بنانfingertips
يُشير لَهُ بِالامتياز بنان
And you are the one whom, at every time and hour,
And you are the one whom at every time
Fingers point out as distinguished.
Banan points out as unique
وَإِنand indeed الذكاintelligence وَالفَضلand merit وَالعَدلand justice وَالنهىand reason
وَإِن الذكا وَالفَضل وَالعَدل وَالنهى
لنجحfor the success of مَساعيكyour endeavors الحَميدةpraiseworthy أَعوانhelpers
لنجح مَساعيك الحَميدة أَعوان
And indeed, intelligence, merit, justice, and reason
Indeed wisdom, virtue, justice and prohibition
Are aids to the success of your praiseworthy endeavors.
Are aids for your blessed efforts to succeed
فَلاso never زلتyou cease لِلصَدرto the chief الكَريمnoble معاوناًan aide
فَلا زلت لِلصَدر الكَريم معاوناً
بِرَأيwith counsel لَهُit has نَفعٌbenefit عَميمfar-reaching وَرجحانand soundness
بِرَأي لَهُ نَفعٌ عَميم وَرجحان
So may you ever remain an aide to the noble chief,
So you have remained a supporter of the generous heart
With counsel of far-reaching benefit and sound judgment.
With an opinion that has general benefit and weight
وَلاand never زلتI cease أُبديI proclaim فيin التَهانيcongratulations مؤرخاًcomposing a chronogram
وَلا زلت أُبدي في التَهاني مؤرخاً
لِعَونfor a helper عَليّexalted in القَدرrank فيin مَصرEgypt بُرهانproof
لِعَون عَليّ القَدر في مَصر بُرهان
And may I ever proclaim, in congratulations, this chronogram:
And I continue to express in congratulations, recording
For a helper of exalted rank in Egypt, there is proof.
