Sol 6.1

  1. أَتى بِالهَنا وَاليمن أَسعدُ عامِ

    لِأَرجاء مصر فيهِ نَيل مَرامِ

    The happiest year has come with joy and good fortune

    To Egypt's regions, with wishes fulfilled within it.

  2. وَلاحَ عَلى وَجه العَزيز بَشائرٌ

    تَدلُّ عَلى نَفع وَرفع مَقامِ

    And good omens shone upon the exalted ruler's face,

    Pointing to benefit and a rise in rank.

  3. وَأَحيا بِما أَسدى مِن العَدل وَالنَدى

    مَعالم أَطلال وَعهد ذمام

    And through the justice and generosity he bestowed, he revived

    The landmarks of ruins and the covenant of protection.

  4. وَأَنشأ في الأَوطان جَيشاً كُماتُه

    تَعالَت بِإقدامٍ وَحسن نِظام

    And he raised an army in the homelands, whose armored warriors

    Rose high through courage and excellent discipline.

  5. وَأَلهمه حبَّ الفَخار بهمة

    وَرَأي سَديد في الوقائع سامي

    And he inspired it with love of glory, with resolve

    And sound, lofty judgment in battles.

  6. وَمدّن في تِلكَ البِلاد رعية

    بِنور ذكاء بِالمَعارف نامي

    And he civilized the people in those lands

    With the light of intelligence that grows through learning.

  7. وَنعَّم مِنها البالَ غَيثُ رَفاهة

    لَهُ كُل وَقت بِالمَكارم هامي

    And a rain of prosperity soothed their minds,

    His rain, pouring down noble gifts at every moment.

  8. فَقابلت الإِحسانَ بِالشُكر وَالدُعا

    لِعَليائه في مُلكه بِدَوام

    So they answered kindness with gratitude and prayers

    For his exalted standing in his reign to endure.

  9. وَكُلٌّ بِإِخلاصٍ تَمنَّى بَقاءه

    بِدَولته ما لاحَ بَدر تَمام

    And everyone sincerely wished that he might remain

    In his dominion, as long as the full moon shines,

  10. وَما قالَ في ذا العام مَجدي مؤرِّخاً

    بِنَصر الخديوي حل أَسعد عام

    And as long as Magdi's words this year record its date:

    With the Khedive's victory, the happiest year has arrived.
