عليّAli جَديرworthy بِالتَرقيof promotion وَقَدand already سَعَتhave hastened
عليّ جَدير بِالتَرقي وَقَد سَعَت
مَراتبranks تَوفيقTawfiq العَزيزthe illustrious إِلَيهِto him
مَراتب تَوفيق العَزيز إِلَيهِ
Ali is worthy of promotion, and already have hastened
It is fitting that Ali be promoted, as
To him the ranks of the illustrious Tawfiq.
The rungs of glorious success lead up to him.
وَمَجديand Magdi لَهُfor him فيin مصرEgypt قالَsaid مؤرِّخاًcomposing a chronogram
وَمَجدي لَهُ في مصر قالَ مؤرِّخاً
لِواءmajor general عليّAli بِالرضاءwith approval عَلِيهِupon him
لِواء عليّ بِالرضاء عَلِيهِ
And Magdi, in Egypt, said for him in a chronogram:
My glory is his in Egypt, said the historian,
“Ali is a major general, with approval bestowed upon him.”
Ali's banner flies high with satisfaction.
