بَداappeared بِالعُلاin glory فيin مَصرEgypt نجلٌa son ضياؤهhis radiance
بَدا بِالعُلا في مَصر نجلٌ ضياؤه
بِهِthrough it اِزدادَتincreased الدُنياthe world صَفاءًclarity عَلىupon صَفاclarity
بِهِ اِزدادَت الدُنيا صَفاءً عَلى صَفا
A son appeared in glory in Egypt, whose radiance
A star shone in Egypt, a youth whose radiance
brought the world clarity upon clarity.
Increased the world's brightness, surpassing the dawn.
وَفيand in رَجبRajab قَدindeed طابَwas joyous مَولدهhis birth الَّذيwhich
وَفي رَجب قَد طابَ مَولده الَّذي
بِمعراجby the Ascension خَيرthe best of الأَنبياءthe prophets تَشرّفاwas honored
بِمعراج خَير الأَنبياء تَشرّفا
And his birth was indeed joyous in Rajab, which
In Rajab was born his auspicious birth
was honored by the Ascension of the best of prophets.
On the night the best of prophets ascended on high.
فَقُلتso I said أَهنِّيI congratulate بِالولادon the birth مؤرّخاًcomposing a chronogram
فَقُلت أَهنِّي بِالولاد مؤرّخاً
أَتىcame حسنHasan مِنfrom راقمthe scribe of الجُندthe army مصطفىMustafa
أَتى حسن مِن راقم الجُند مصطفى
So I said, offering congratulations on the birth with a chronogram:
I wished to congratulate him on the birth, recording
Hasan was born to Mustafa, the army scribe.
The excellence that came from Mustafa's line.
