قاطَعتَ جارك وَاتبعتَ هَواكا

قاطَعتَ جارك وَاتبعتَ هَواكا

وَأَضلك الشَيطان بَعدَ هُداكا

وَأَضلك الشَيطان بَعدَ هُداكا

You broke with your neighbor and followed your whim,

You severed ties with your neighbor and followed your desire.

And Satan pleased you after you had been guided.

And Satan led you astray after you had been guided.

وَهجرتني وَنقضت حبل مودّتي

وَهجرتني وَنقضت حبل مودّتي

وَبِذاكَ لي شَهدت شُهود قِلاكا

وَبِذاكَ لي شَهدت شُهود قِلاكا

You deserted me and broke the cord of my affection;

And you abandoned me and unraveled the cord of my affection.

Thus, before me, the legions of your aversion bore witness.

And thereby witnesses to your hatred bore witness for me.

فَلأرحلن عَنكَ ساخِطاً

فَلأرحلن عَنكَ ساخِطاً

إِن كانَ في هَذا الرَحيل رضاكا

إِن كانَ في هَذا الرَحيل رضاكا

So I shall surely depart from you, indignant,

So I shall surely depart from you in anger,

If in this departure lies your contentment.

If your satisfaction lies in this departure.
