شهور ستة في مرت

علىيا رب سَهِّلْ

علىيا رب سَهِّلْ

Six months in ... have passed

Six months have passed by

Upon me—O Lord, make it easy.

Oh Lord, make it easy

وَلا تَقطَع رَجائي يا إلهي

وَلا تَقطَع رَجائي يا إلهي

بِحَق محمدٍ مِمّا أؤمِّلْ

بِحَق محمدٍ مِمّا أؤمِّلْ

And do not dash my hope, O my God,

And do not cut off my hope, my God

By Muhammad's honor, for what I hope to attain.

For the right of Muhammad, give me what I hope for

وَلا تشمت بي الأَعداءَ واعطف

وَلا تشمت بي الأَعداءَ واعطف

عليّ وِبالرضا يا رَب عجِّل

عليّ وِبالرضا يا رَب عجِّل

And do not let my enemies gloat over me; turn kindly

And do not let the enemies gloat over me, and have mercy

Toward me, and hasten Your favor, O Lord.

On me and with acceptance, oh Lord, hasten

ولا تبقي على

ولا تبقي على

وحاصر حصنَ قوَّتِه وزلزل

وحاصر حصنَ قوَّتِه وزلزل

And do not spare ...

And do not leave

And besiege the fortress of his strength, and shake it.

And besiege the fortress of his strength and make it shake

وَشَدّد في الحِساب عَلَيهِ وَاطمس

وَشَدّد في الحِساب عَلَيهِ وَاطمس

عَلى عَينيه وَامسخه وَنكِّل

عَلى عَينيه وَامسخه وَنكِّل

And be stern with him in the reckoning, and blot out

And be harsh in reckoning with him and wipe out

His eyes; disfigure him, and make an example of him.

His eyes and transform him and humiliate

عَلَيك بِهِ وَقابله بِسخطٍ

عَلَيك بِهِ وَقابله بِسخطٍ

وَأَمراض فَكَم تَعفو وَتُمهل

وَأَمراض فَكَم تَعفو وَتُمهل

Deal with him, and confront him with wrath

Him with wrath

And illnesses—for how often You pardon and grant respite!

And diseases, so how much do you pardon and delay

فَقد خانَ العُهود وَما رَعى لي

فَقد خانَ العُهود وَما رَعى لي

حُقوقي وَالزَمان عَلَيهِ مُقبل

حُقوقي وَالزَمان عَلَيهِ مُقبل

For he betrayed his pledges and did not respect

For he has betrayed pacts and did not respect

My rights, while the times favored him.

My rights and time is against him

وَبالغ في العَداوة لا لشيءٍ

وَبالغ في العَداوة لا لشيءٍ

سِوى قَول استقم في الحكم وَاعدل

سِوى قَول استقم في الحكم وَاعدل

And he went to extremes in hostility, for no reason

And he was extremely hostile for no

Except the words: be upright in judgment and be just;

Reason other than saying, be steadfast in ruling justly

ولا تهدم بسوء الرأي دوراً

ولا تهدم بسوء الرأي دوراً

بها تنزل

بها تنزل

And do not tear down houses through poor judgment,

And do not demolish homes with bad opinion

In which you dwell.

For you are leaving after a little while

فَإِنَّكَ راحل عَما قَليلٍ

فَإِنَّكَ راحل عَما قَليلٍ

عَن الدُنيا وَعَن أَهل وَمنزل

عَن الدُنيا وَعَن أَهل وَمنزل

For before long you will depart

From the world and from family and home

From this world, and from family and home,

To a valley wherein you will meet excruciating torture

إِلى واد به تَلقى عَذاباً

إِلى واد به تَلقى عَذاباً

أَليماً ما لِوَجهك عَنهُ مَعزل

أَليماً ما لِوَجهك عَنهُ مَعزل

To a valley where you will encounter torment,

With no refuge for your face from it

Agonizing, from which your face has no escape.

And scorpions and snakes will bite you

وَتَنهشك العَقارب وَالأَفاعي

وَتَنهشك العَقارب وَالأَفاعي

بِواد ما لمثلك فيهِ موئل

بِواد ما لمثلك فيهِ موئل

And scorpions and vipers will tear at you

In a valley with no shelter for the likes of you

In a valley where one like you has no refuge.
