The recovery of the chief minister Khayr al-Din is a joy,

Healing the chest is the best religion, a delight

a fresh delight for learning throughout the land.

For knowledge in the lands, fresh and new

وَصحة ذاته نَصرٌ عَزيز

وَصحة ذاته نَصرٌ عَزيز

وَسَعد للملوك وَلِلعِباد

وَسَعد للملوك وَلِلعِباد

And his health is a mighty victory,

And its own health a mighty victory

and good fortune for kings and for the people.

Bringing happiness to kings and servants too

وَها هِيَ تُونس الغَرّاء فازَت

وَها هِيَ تُونس الغَرّاء فازَت

غَداة البرء مِنهُ بِالمُراد

غَداة البرء مِنهُ بِالمُراد

And behold, radiant Tunis has won

And here is radiant Tunisia who has won

what it desired on the morning of his recovery.

The morn after sickness, achieving what she sought

وَكُل الناس قاموا حين عُوفي

وَكُل الناس قاموا حين عُوفي

بشكرٍ للمهيمن في اِزدِياد

بشكرٍ للمهيمن في اِزدِياد

And all the people rose, when he was healed,

And all the people rose up when she was cured

with ever-increasing thanks to the All-Watching One.

With thanks to the Overseer, ever increasing

وَمَجدي وَالسَعيد بمصر نالا

وَمَجدي وَالسَعيد بمصر نالا

ببرء الجسم إِحياء الفُؤاد

ببرء الجسم إِحياء الفُؤاد

And Majdi and al-Sa'id in Egypt gained

And my pride and joy in Egypt attained

through his body's recovery, renewed life for their hearts.

With a healed body, reviving the heart

وَسرّا بِالإِجابة في دُعاء

وَسرّا بِالإِجابة في دُعاء

بإِخلاص حَليف للوداد

بإِخلاص حَليف للوداد

And both rejoiced at the answering of a prayer,

And rejoiced at the response to a prayer

offered with sincerity allied to affection.

Made with sincere devotion and affection

وَطابا عِندَ ذاكَ البرء نَفساً

وَطابا عِندَ ذاكَ البرء نَفساً

وَعادَ إِلَيهما حسن الرَشاد

وَعادَ إِلَيهما حسن الرَشاد

And both were glad at heart at that recovery,

And with that healing their souls felt at ease

and sound judgment returned to them both.

And good counsel returned to them both

أَطالَ بقاءه رَب كَريم

أَطالَ بقاءه رَب كَريم

وَأَيّد مِنهُ تُونسَ بِالسَداد

وَأَيّد مِنهُ تُونسَ بِالسَداد

May a generous Lord prolong his life,

May its generous Lord prolong its existence

and strengthen Tunis through him with sound guidance,

And support Tunisia with righteousness

وَأَذهَب عَنهُ زادَ عُلاه سقماً

وَأَذهَب عَنهُ زادَ عُلاه سقماً

يُساق عَلى الدَوام إِلى الأَعادي

يُساق عَلى الدَوام إِلى الأَعادي

and banish illness from him—may his eminence grow—

And remove from it sickness, adding to its strength

to be sent forever to his foes.

Ever led to adversaries for harm

وَنعَّم بالَه ما اِزدان نظمٌ

وَنعَّم بالَه ما اِزدان نظمٌ

بِبَث ثَنائه في كُل ناد

بِبَث ثَنائه في كُل ناد

And grant him peace of mind as long as verse is adorned

And bless its protector for as long as a poem

by spreading his praise in every gathering.

Sings his praises in every assembly
